Corpus-Based Positive Discourse Analysis On Chinese Corporate Oversea Social Responsibility Disclosure

Since the “Belt and Road” Initiative was put forward,more and more Chinese companies go outside,corporate oversea behaviors are supervised by more and more stakeholders.Current studies focus on management fields,rare studies have been conducted in terms of Positive Discourse Analysis on domestic companies' oversea social responsibility reports.The present thesis selects Chinese enterprises' oversea CSR reports disclosed and the reports made on Chinese companies oversea social responsibility through the CCTV program as present research data.With the help of UAM corpus tool,annotation and calculation have been completed.Based on Appraisal Theory,from the perspective of Positive Discourse Analysis,the present thesis aims to discuss how Chinese enterprises negotiate various stakeholders so as to construct their corporate identity positively and shape their good oversea qualities.After analysis,conclusions can be drawn as follows: First,Chinese enterprises have applied a large number of Inclination resources to construct their Affect inclinations,the corporate Affect Chinese enterprises revealed is remaining true and committed to their original goals,constantly pursuing progress and keep realizing their missions for stakeholders.Second,by applying a number of Judgment resources,Chinese enterprises,especially state-owned engineering,and oil chemical Chinese enterprise successfully constructed themselves as experts and authorities in the world stage,besides,Chinese enterprises long-term based in oversea countries actively brought in advanced skills,equipment and management expertise,focus on training local employees to improve their professional skills,which not only help solve the local employment problems,but also take actions to ensure their long term career development.Third,the Heterogloss resources help highlight the Chinese enterprises' merits and qualities,specially,Chinese staff have shown strong commitment and sense of responsibility in the process of working overseas,they impressed the local partners with good job qualities such as their commitment to tasks,great endurance of hardships and the spirit of sacrifice,diligence and down-to earth working attitude.Moreover,by applying large numbers of modal words,Chinese enterprises justify their business practices and invade certain potential risks by making use of the ambiguity function of the modal expressions.
