As an international language,spoken English plays a significant role in intercultural communication.The National English Curriculum Standards(2011)emphasizes oral English teaching,aiming at developing students' ability to communicate in English fluently.Therefore,how to effectively improve students' communication ability has become the question still need to be solved in current English teaching.It is well known that motivation affects foreign language spoken.The higher motivation the students get,the greater achievement they will gain.Therefore,it is very important to effectively stimulate and maintain the students' motivation in the process of teaching oral English.ARCS(Attention,Relevance,Confidence and Satisfaction)Model of Motivation can effectively assist teachers to improve students' learning motivation and oral ability.The author deeply analyzes the ARCS Model of Motivation,and take the ARCS motivation model as the theoretical basis.The questionnaire method and interview method are used to investigate and analyze the oral learning status of 111 students in the eighth grade of Q City No.9 Middle School.On this basis,ARCS motivation model is applied to the oral English teaching in the experimental class.Through the application of ARCS motivation model in practice for three months,it can be seen that the model has achieved remarkable teaching results in the experimental class,indicating that the ARCS motivation model can effectively stimulate and improve students' oral learning motivation,and significantly improve students' oral expression ability,and improve the teaching effect.
