It is acknowledged that strong learning desire can help a lot in accomplishing students' learning goals.Therefore,motivation is not only the inducement of learning,but also the source of learners' continuous efforts.In English class,teacher's feedback is an indispensable part of English teaching.So what is the relationship between teacher's feedback and student motivation? This thesis explores the influence of teacher's feedback on students' English learning motivation.The author mainly discusses the following three issues:(1)How are the intensities of high school students' intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation for English learning?(2)What is the current situation of senior high school English teachers' classroom feedback?(3)What influence does teachers' classroom feedback have on students' English learning motivation?In this study,the author selected a middle school in Xi 'an,Shaanxi province.The students of four classes and two English teachers in this middle school were surveyed and observed in class.Through the collation and analysis of the collected data,this study draws the following conclusions: Firstly,the intrinsic motivation of high school students' English learning is greater than extrinsic motivation.Secondly,high school English teachers frequently use positive feedback in class and the frequency of high school English teachers using negative feedback in class is low.Finally,teachers' positive feedback will not increase students' intrinsic learning motivation,but it will increase students' extrinsic motivation in English learning;negative feedback can increase students' intrinsic motivation to learn English,but it will reduce the extrinsic motivation of students.Based on the research results,the author puts forward some feasible suggestions to help high school English teachers use appropriate classroom feedback to stimulate students' learning motivation.
