Corpus-Based Study On The Distribution Of Meaning Items Of The Representative Grabbing Verbs In Modern Chinese

The compilation of dictionaries is a complicated task that requires rich theoretical and advanced technical means to provide support.Full possession of linguistic materials is the basis for ensuring the accuracy of the compilation of dictionaries.As a collection of large-scale real texts,the corpus provides a large amount of corpus for lexicography.It is conducive to improving the comprehensiveness of the polysyllabic meanings in the lexicographical compilation and the accuracy of the meaning division.On the basis of the corpus,the article describes the distribution of meanings in modern Chinese of“ZHUA(?),ZHUO(?),QU(?),ZHAI(?),BU(?)”.Combined with the related theories,it is intended to provide a reference for the revision of the five words in Modern Chinese Dictionary.The full text is divided into three parts,as follows:The introduction part reviews the related research on the derivative of polysemy meanings,defines the terms and explains the basis of the research,the research method,the purpose of the research,and the source of the corpus.The first chapter to the fifth chapter are the main parts,which take “ZHUA(?),ZHUO(?),QU(?),ZHAI(?),BU(?)” as the research objects,describing and analyzing their distribution of meanings in modern Chinese.The representative words extracted a total of 4.1 million words corpus.on the basis of corpus,the article marked and counted these five words one by one,then compared them with the meanings in Modern Chinese Dictionary,proposed some suggestions on the meanings of these five words.The word “ZHUA(?)” adds two meaning items: “v.Found(bad things that others have done)”;and “Matching with adjectives,indicating the realization of the described state”.The word “ZHUO(?)” changes the meaning “v.Hold,grasp” to “v.Hold the object in your hand”;divides the meaning “v.Put people or animals in their hands” intothese two meaning items: “v.Let the animal fall into your hands or set-up traps”;“v.Arrest or catch people”,and adds these three meaning items: “Get control of sth”;“Discover that someone is doing something wrong”;and “Discover the presence of substances through technology equipment”.The word “QU(?)” changes the meaning “v.Hold the object in your hand” to “v.Get the object,especially by hand”;changes the meaning “v.Acquire,incur” to “v.Acquire”,and adds the meaning “Attack and occupation somewhere”.The word “ZHAI(?)” divides the meaning “v.Take(plant flowers,fruits,leaves or things that are worn and hung)” into these two meaning items: “v.Pick(flowers,fruits,leaves of plants)”;“v.Take off something that is worn or hung”;deletes the meaning “borrow money” and adds these three meaning items: “v.remove sth you don't want”;“v.Get top rankings in the competition”;and “n.Abstract,refers to the points extracted from the article”.The word “BU(?)” deletes one meaning,adds these three meaning items: “v.Let the animal fall into your hands or set-up traps”;“v.Arrest or catch people”;“v.Get control of sth”;and “v.Discover the presence of substances through technology equipment”.The conclusion part summarizes the commonality of the five representative words.The grabbing verbs generally have the meaning item of “catch”,“acquisition”,“control”and “select”.
