For a long time,the study of Jiangnan towns is a hot spot in the regional socio-economic history,and the scope of the research and the depth of the thesis have reached a considerable level.As the main literature of town's study,the related research of township chronicles is relatively weak.Therefore it is very important to study township chronicles in the Ming and Qing Dynasty of Jiangnan region.It can help us to deepen the study of the social-economic history,inspect the cultural life of the local society and explore the historical value of folk literature of Ming and Qing Dynasty.Local chronicles is a comprehensive book that records the local people and culture of a region.The same is true for township chronicles but the scope is smaller than that of the provincial and counties,so it is limited to one township or one town.In the Ming and Qing Dynasty with the development of the economy,the repair activities in this area were very frequent,resulting in a large number of township chronicles with different forms.This paper takes it as the starting point,discusses the characteristics of the township chronicles and the reasons for its cultivation from the perspective of philology and history.As well as reveals the role of local Confucian students in the construction of local culture.In addition,by comparison the styles of townships chronicles during the Ming and Qing Dynasty to reveale the evolution of the history.Finally,through analysis the township chronicles content to show the characteristics of the township chronicle records in the process of editing and content selection.Since most of the township and village ethics are privately cultivated by local scholars,this paper also focuses on the comparative study with the provincial and provincial counties in the overall analysis process,it shows that the private book is different from the official book.
