The teacher's self-efficacy not only explains the teachers' motivation,influences the enthusiasm of education and teaching,but also closely relates to the student's academic performance.Improving teachers' self-efficacy is one of the important links in the development of school education.Through the study of English teachers' self-efficacy,English teachers' teaching methods,the application of teaching skills,the grasp of teaching content and others,which can be better understood.This study takes Kunming City as an example,aiming to answer the following questions:(1)what is the current situation of English teachers' self-efficacy in urban and rural junior high schools?(2)what are the differences between the self-efficacy of English teachers in urban and rural junior high schools?(3)what factors lead to the differences between the self-efficacy of English teachers in urban and rural junior high schools?This study surveyed 109 junior high school English teachers.Then,the valid data of the questionnaire was processed by the SPSS software,and six English teachers were randomly selected to conduct in-depth interviews,making following conclusions:first,self-efficacy of urban junior high school English teachers is generally at the upper-middle level,while that in rural areas is at the lower-middle level.Second,the six dimensions of teachers' self-efficacy in urban areas are all higher than those in rural areas.Third,the factors influencing the differences on self-efficacy of English teachers between urban and rural areas includes the following aspects: background information,professional quality of teachers,final knowledge feedback of teaching objects,and affirmation and evaluation of teachers' teaching effects by third parties(except for the teacher himself and students).The study has proved that there are differences between the self-efficacy of English teachers in urban and rural junior high schools.Therefore,both the English educators and the relevant education management departments should fully understand the influencing factors on differences to take measures to improve the self-efficacy of English teachers.
