With the upgrading and development of mobile technology,Massive Open Online Courses,Wisdom Class and Cloud Classroom and so on have emerged.Mobile Applications, which is regarded as a brand-new interactive media, has become the Hand-held School for people. The educational concept of “Internet plus” and artificial intelligence has been deeply rooted in people's hearts, which has given birth to Educational Informatization 2.0 Era.Key competencies, which has inspired a new wave of research, poses new challenges to the reform of junior middle school English teaching as well.At present, there still exists some serious problems in our country, such as single English teaching model and rigid English learning methods. To remove the shackles of current teaching dilemma,we must base ourselves on the background of the times, conform to the educational trend and reform the teaching model.Consequently,a substantial change is urgently needed to renovate the core of English teaching system.Firstly, this paper does theoretical research on the basis of mobile applications and teaching models at home and abroad. And based on Edgar Dale's Cone of Experience theory, blending learning theory and ubiquitous learning theory, this study tries to construct a new junior middle school English teaching model based on mobile applications from several aspects, the dimensions of construction principle, construction purpose, model flow and realization conditions. This model includes three stages,pre-class,in-class and after-class.Teachers,students and mobile APPs are the three key elements. In the model, teachers play a leading role and students are a main body and mobile applications are regarded as teaching medium.Besides, three chief purposes are to realize teacher-student interaction,man-machine friendliness and home-school cooperation.Secondly,an educational experiment is carried out, which aims at testing the teaching effect of this model.Zhengzhou E Middle School was selected as the sample middle school, and Class 1and 2 of Grade 7 were sample classes. On the basis of the pre-test of students' basic information,English achievements and learning style, the experiment of reforming English teaching model based on APP was implemented for a whole semester for practical exploration, which is also an education quasi-experiment.In the experimental class, teacher adopts iPad-based APP teaching, while the traditional English teaching is conducted in the control class at the same time.Teachers choose English fluent speaking,Boxfish and Scallop word three APPs,then formulate relevant teaching strategies and management rules. The ultimate aim is to realize teacher-student interaction,student-student interaction,home-school cooperation and independent learning.Through the analysis of the horizontal, vertical and standard deviation of the Final Exam results,it is found that the number of excellent, good and middle-level students in the experimental class are obviously more than those in the control class. Moreover, compared with the entrance exam, theaverage score and English achievements of the experimental class have been significantly improved, which also shows a continuous upward trend. The practical exploration prove that teaching English based on mobile APP can not only arouse the interest in English, but also effectively improve students' achievement. Finally,a questionnaire survey was conducted among the students in the experimental class, and parents and students are interviewed seriously. On the basis of analysis and reflection, this study summarizes several countermeasures to improve the effectiveness of this model. Then it puts forward corresponding suggestions from three levels, teachers, students and parents. The ultimate purpose is to provide reference for mobile APP teaching promotion and give advice for teaching reform in junior middle schools.
