Attention Bias In High And Low Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms College Students:An Event-Related Potential Study

The results of college students' mental health survey show that obsessive-compulsive symptoms are one of the common psychological problems of college students.Most studies suggest that college students with obsessive-compulsive symptoms often have perfectionist personality traits.At present,some studies show inconsistent results on the tendency of individuals with obsessive-compulsive symptoms to compulsive-related stimuli,and the effects of perfection personality traits are not excluded from the study.The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there is a difference in attention bias between two types of obsessive-related stimuli(obsessive-related words and obsessive-related pictures)from the behavioral and physiological aspects of college students with high and low obsessive-compulsive symptoms,and to examine whether the difference is still exist after excluding the influence of perfectionist personality traits.In order to achieve the above objectives,the study first randomly selected 234 college students to verify the reliability and validity of the Padova Forced Force Scale-Washington State University Chinese Revision(PI-WSUR),and then screened out the scale.25 students from the low scores(low-obsessive-compulsive symptom group,ie LOC group)and high scores(high-obsessive-compulsive symptom group,ie HOC group)participated in behavioral experiments;20 in the LOC group and 22 in the HOC group participated in event-related potential(ERP)experiments.The experimental materials were obsessive-related vocabulary and obsessive-related pictures.The experimental design was a mixed design of 2(high and low obsessive-compulsive symptoms)× 3(vocabulary category),and perfectionism was added as a covariate to the experiment.The experiment is divided into two parts.The first part adopts the emotional Stroop experimental paradigm to explore the attention bias characteristics of different types of vocabulary materials for college students with high and low obsessive-compulsive symptoms.The second part uses the point detection experimental paradigm to to explore the attention bias characteristics of different types of picture materials for college students with high and low obsessive-compulsive symptoms.The results show that: 1.PI-WSUR has good reliability and validity and can be used for screening of obsessive-compulsive symptoms in college students.2,HOC and LOC group in the Stroop experimental paradigm,the main effect between groups is not significant,the main effect of the word category is significant,the interaction effect of the word category × group is not significant;3,after adding perfectionism as a covariate in the Stroop experimental paradigm There was no significant change in the results;4,Participant induced P1,N1 components for the three categories of words,but the difference between the two groups was not significant;5,HOC and LOC group in the point detection experimental paradigm,the main effect between groups is notsignificantly,the main effect of the picture category is significant,and the picture type×group interaction effect is not significant;6.After the perfectionism is added as the covariate in the point detection experiment paradigm,the difference of picture types is significant;7.Participant induce P1 and P2 components for the three categories of pictures,and the HOC group's P2 amplitude is significantly larger than the LOC group's.Research conclusions: 1.Highly forced college students have obvious attention-biased components for forced-related pictures;2.Perfectionistic personality traits are not a factor that affects the attention bias of individuals with obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
