Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law is the work of Li Tengfang,a poetic Minister in the late Ming Dynasty.It focuses on Li Tengfang's understanding of writing theory.Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law are straightforward,clear and easy to use.This work is also included in the current writing dictionary,but there is no corresponding research on the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law itself.Based on this,the content of the paper can be divided into the following parts:The first part combs Li Tengfang's official career in the four dynasties and several ups and downs,from the plebeian to the last official to the Ministry of rites,introduces his works concerning ideology,literature and military affairs,and explores his academic thought of Confucianism as the core of the unity of the three religions,and his literary thought of opposing imitation and conscription of the Confucian classics.The second part introduces the basic overview of the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law.The background of its emergence is the relative decline of the retro school.During the late Ming Dynasty when the Tang and Song schools and the public security schools rose,Li Tengfang,as a public security literati,wrote his essays and miscellaneous essays,Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law under such a complex literary background.The third part studies the theory of material selection in the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law.Li Tengfang believes that the article should be new in purpose,different from the views of previous generations,and deep in meaning.He should see the most essential truth of things.How to do this,Li Tengfang believes that only by studying the classics of previous generations can he gain some benefit in purpose.The fourth part studies the theory of paragraph structure in the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law.At the beginning and end of the article,Li Tengfang putforward his own views on how to strengthen the effect of the article's expression;at the arrangement of the paragraph,Li Tengfang put forward his understanding of the cohesion and turning of the paragraph;and at the logical and semantic part,the technique of making the structure of the article clearer and more orderly.The fifth part studies the rhetoric theory in the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law.This part is a rhetoric interpretation of "Character Law" and its subordinate techniques of rhetoric and word refinement.The sixth part studies the theory of expressive means in the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law,in which the textual techniques are used when the author has some special intention to express,and the other part is the techniques to enhance the effect of the article by refining sentences.The seventh part studies the practice of the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law in Li Tengfang's other works.Through reading Li Tengfang's Collection of Li Xiangzhou,we can conclude that Li Tengfang basically implements his theory in his preface and postscript,notes and comments.The eighth part is about the influence and deficiency of the Thirty-five Principles of Writing Law,which had little influence in Ming and Qing Dynasties.At present,we can see that most of the evaluation comes from the current evaluation.They affirm the value of the Thirty-Five Principles of Writing Law from the perspective of writing and rhetoric,and explain its guidance to modern writing and writing teaching.
