"Chinese curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011 edition)" clearly points out that "Chinese curriculum is dedicated to cultivating students' ability to use Chinese and characters","Chinese curriculum is a comprehensive and practical course to learn the use of Chinese and characters.For the first time in the history of Chinese education in China,the basic goal of Chinese curriculum and teaching is to "learn the application of Chinese characters".Although Chinese curriculum standard has clearly the direction of "pragmatic" of Chinese education,but more and more scholars have found that a lot of problems in Chinese education,just like "everything is Chinese","fake Chinese","knowledge generalization"," Knowledge absolutism "and so on,and these problems largely due to Chinese textbooks are lack of the knowledge which are used to guide “pragmatic” practice.Therefore,regarding the pragmatic knowledge as an integral part of the language knowledge system,the pragmatic principle as one of the language teaching material compilation principle,the pragmatic competence development as an important target Chinese teaching,is the way to solve the problems which traditional selection type teaching had brought and to achieve the goals which mentioned in the Chinese curriculum standards.Therefore,based on the pragmatic view on language education,this paper analyzes the American textbook Journeys,and tries to explore and think about the differences between Chinese textbooks and American textbooks,so as to provide some references for the compilation of Chinese "pragmatic" textbooks.There are four parts in this research:The first part includes chapter one and chapter two,chapter one puts forward the research questions of this paper,states the research scope and methods,defines the core concepts,and outlines the structure and main content of the paper,and the basic introduction about Journeys including the publication background,compilation concept,the components and the using of Journeys.The second part is chapter three,this chapter sorts out the definition and research scope of pragmatics,connects it with the discipline of language.Under the Pragmatic view on language education and based on the scholars' internal structure of the content system of language textbook,this part divides the contents of language textbook into four parts,including knowledge,essay selection,learning assistant and practical activities.This part also elaborates the contents of each syestem and the purposes of these contents which designed in the textbook.The third part is chapter four to chapter seven,under the Pragmatic view on language education,this part analyzes and reviews,the textbook,from the pragmatic features through knowledge,essay selection,learning assistant and practical activities.The fourth part is chapter eight,this part is conclusion and suggestions.Based on the pragmatic characteristics of,the writer tries to find out some suggestions for the development of Chinese book.
