Management Of Proper Names Translation In Collaborative Translation Projects

Based on the case of a book translation project that includes the translation of 30 books from English to Chinese,this thesis discusses the application of terminology management in collaborative translation to deal with the problems arising from the translation of large numbers of proper names in the project.The thesis first introduces the translation project and summarizes the problems both in translating the proper names and in managing the data,including inconsistency,collaborative problems,and difficulty in maintenance.It then introduces common terminology management methods and offers solutions to the above problems,which include creating guide for proper names translation and management when entering the project,monitoring the progress during the execution process,and adopting quality assurance methods in the closing process.It is hoped that this thesis can offer an insight into proper names management in collaborative translation projects.
