The article "Inquiring into the Innovative Techniques of Wang Jianmin’s Erhu Works <Fifth Erhu Rhapsody——Psalm>" is the author’s practical insights into the innovative performance techniques of this work when he learned to play Erhu’s Fifth Erhu Rhapsody-Psalms.Since the reform and opening up,Erhu art has experienced innovation and development in multiple periods,and these innovations are embodied in many aspects such as creation,performance,and technique.The innovation of Erhu’s works must not only inherit the superior genes of Chinese traditional culture,but also integrate modern thinking pattern and innovative techniques.After a series of integration and development,the Erhu art showed a diversified and innovative appearance,and this appearance promoted the better development of the Erhu performance art."The Fifth Erhu Rhapsody—Psalm" is a work created by composer Mr.Wang Jianmin in 2019 by the 12 th Golden Bell Award Erhu Competition,also the latest work in the Erhu Rhapsody series..It quickly attracted much attention in the industry for his bold innovations in performance techniques and legal systems.For Erhu performers,how to better present this Erhu new work with pioneering spirit and technical innovation is worth exploring.I studied the piano from an early age,and systematically studied and interpreted the Erhu works of different periods.In this article,the author use the "Fifth Erhu Rhapsody-Praise" as the starting point,with many years of accumulation to explore the song in innovative performance techniques,while sharing the author’s second creative insights.This paper explores the creative background of the work and the original intention of the composer;it also summarizes three innovative performance techniques: “micro-tone playing method,innovative tremolo playing method,left finger percussion barrel playing method”.At the same time,an in-depth analysis of each technique was performed separately;in the end,the author also shared many years of Erhu performance experience,and summarized the performance feelings and experiences that fit the works of the "Fifth Erhu Rhapsody-Praise".Erhu is a traditional national musical instrument in China.It has a good mass foundation in China and is much loved by everyone,for its unique cultural temperament.The development and application of new Erhu performance techniques will promote the continuous development of Erhu art,and the innovation of Erhu performance art and performance techniques complement each other,thereby promoting the dual development of Erhu art in academic and performance.Today,as the process of globalization continues to accelerate,while developing creatively and creating popular cultural and artistic works,how to protect the outstanding traditional Chinese cultureand retain the temperament of traditional national music is a topic worthy of in-depth consideration.As performers of contemporary Erhu art,we are in charge with the historical mission of inheriting and promoting Erhu art.Continuously improving our playing techniques should be the priority.In the collision of tradition and innovation,we will utilize our learned knowledge and experience to take the Erhu performance art to a higher stage to make sure Erhu’s unique artistic charm is appreciated by more people.
