Since the State Council's Guiding Opinions on Actively Promoting “Internet +”Action issued by the State Council of China in 2015,many scholars in colleges are actively participating in the construction of online teaching,and many students are choosing online classrooms as their new learning way.In contrast,the exploration process of online teaching in elementary and middle schools is relatively slow.Moreover,English is one of the subjects of Chinese nine-year compulsory education,so the construction of English teaching is vital to online education.Compared with universities,the construction of online teaching in primary and secondary schools has a low coverage probability and immature teaching system.Therefore,in order to make up the gap in online English teaching,many online English education platforms have emerged.The Hellokids platform,which is a high-quality 1v1 online English teaching platform in China for students in primary and secondary school,has developed rapidly in recent years.Despite the rapid exploration and development of online English education,there are still some differences between online and traditional English teaching,which cause the poor quality of online teaching.Yang Zaibao and many scholars consider that teaching quality is essential to online courses,and the use of teaching strategies is the key to improve the quality of online teaching.Therefore,the appropriate use of online teaching strategies is necessary for improving the quality of online English teaching.In the specific practice of online English teaching,there are many questions worth thinking about,for example,what online teaching strategies have teachers adopted,how is the implementation of online teaching strategies,and how do the online teaching strategies affect the quality of English teaching.So,the author puts forward two questions based on the Hellokids platform.(1)What is the use status of online teaching strategies by English teachers on the Hellokids platform?(2)How do online teaching strategies influence the teaching effect on the Hellokids platform?The study will be researched by the literature research method,interview method,observation,and case study combining by the theories of Krashen's Theory of Second Language Acquisition,Deep Learning Theory,and Zone of Proximal Development Theory.Firstly,the research overviews of online education and online teaching strategies at home and abroad will be concluded through the literature research method.Secondly,in order to get the use status of the online teaching strategies by English teachers and preliminary to analyze the relationship between online teaching strategies and teaching effect.Thirdly,the author summarizes how online teaching strategies affect teaching effect by collecting and analyzing fifteen classroom observation records and three typical teaching cases from online English teachers on the Hellokids platform.Finally,based on the above information,the author summarizes the problems in the use of English teachers' online teaching strategies and puts forward some useful suggestions for English teachers.The results show that: firstly,there are some problems with the use of online teaching strategies by English teachers on the Hellokids platform.For example,most online teachers tend to ignore the dominant position of students and are unable to adapt flexible online resources to their class.In the pre-teaching stage,English teachers generally do not pay more attention to the use of teaching strategies at preparation stage;while in the while-teaching stage,the frequency of using guidance strategy by English teachers is the highest,and the interaction and monitoring strategy is the second,while the evaluation and feedback strategy is the least.Secondly,there is the following relationship between the online teaching strategies and the effectiveness of online teaching on the Hellokids platform.The correct use of teaching preparation strategies can help English teachers' have a profound understanding of teaching objectives,teaching content,teaching methods,and learner characteristics.The correct use of guidance strategy can effectively mobilize learners' enthusiasm for online learning,which means it can help learners enter the learning state quickly and thereby improve the learning effect.The correct use of interaction strategy can help English teachers to get students' learning information from multiple views such as action,vision,and hearing,which can also stimulate learners' attention at the same time,so teaching quality is enhanced.The correct use of monitoring strategies can help studentsfocus on the learning knowledge in which active students participate in learning activities.Thus it can indirectly improve teaching effectiveness during online teaching.With the development of the Internet,this study of online teaching strategies is of great significance.It not only enriches the practical research on the teaching strategies of online English teachers but also provides some specific effective online teaching strategies for English teachers.However,there are still some shortcomings in this study.Firstly,in terms of sample selection,this article only has interviewed and observed fifteen teachers in a single online teaching platform.Secondly,in the case analysis part,the content expression and demonstration are inadequate.Thirdly,in the experimental inspection part,the preliminary inspection is too shallow because the time is too short and some uncertain factors that are difficult to rule out.Finally,in addition to the study of 1v1 online English teaching,there are still many areas such as learning in synchronous and asynchronous ways,which are also worthy of exploration in the future.
