A Report On The Simulation Interpreting Practice Of Google I/O 2019

Technology changes life.Nowadays,under the theme of sharing technology,international communication becomes increasingly frequent.There is no doubt that language is the biggest obstacle.How to overcome the language barrier to ensure efficient communication has become the focus of research.This paper is a practical report of simulation interpreting.First of all,it expounds the background information of the material,the definition and development of interpretation and simultaneous interpretation,the definition and necessity of applying syntactic linearity and information reformulation strategies.This paper takes Google I/O 2019 as the study material,interpreting mainly based on syntactic linearity and supplemented by information reformulation strategy,deeply analyzing difficulties in unfamiliar word,prepositional phrase,verb phrase,simple sentence and complex sentence from word,phrase and sentence aspects in the process of interpreting,so as to explore the importance of the two strategies in simultaneous interpretation,and how to apply them to improve the consistency of the interpretation and make it better.In addition,this paper introduces six techniques used in this process,including salami,supplement,repetition,change of lexical category,simplification and induction,to improve the quality of interpretation.In practice,it is found that syntactic linearity and information reformulation strategies and various techniques are very crucial in simultaneous interpretation,which can effectively relieve interpreters' memory pressure,ensure the completeness and fluency of the interpretation,and guarantee the quality of interpretation.The purpose of this paper is to understand the key and difficult points in simultaneous interpretation and to master the corresponding solutions through in-depth study in both theory and application,so as to improve the author's interpreting ability and provide guidance for future practice.It is also hoped that the research of this paper can provide reference for others in the practice of simultaneous interpretation in the future.
