The translation practice report is based on Chapter four of How to Be Human in the Digital Economy written by Nicholas Agar. The topic of this chapter is ?Can Work Be a Norm for Humans in the Digital Age??,which discusses the impact of artificial intelligence and automation on human work and life in the Digital Age from the perspective of optimism and pessimism, taking the economic benefits and work efficiency as the starting point, and provides new ideas for people to consider this issue. The genre of the translation material is an argumentation with abstract language. Therefore, the translation could not be constrained by the language structure of original text.It should be adjusted appropriately according to the meaning and the language structure.By using the methods of both free translation and literal translation, the translation skills of conversion of part of speech, sentence restructuring, etc.the translation conforms to Chinese language structure. The translation practice report consists of four parts. The first part is translation task description, which gives a brief introduction to the translation material, the author, and the significance of the material. The second part presents the process of translation, including preparation, the difficult points, revision and improvement of the translation. The third part is the translation case analysis from the aspects of words, sentences and discourse. At the lexical level, four translation skills are analyzed in terms of term translation, selection of word's meaning, extension of lexical meaning, and conversion of part-of-speech.At the syntactical level, the difficult points of translation are analyzed from six aspects, including transformation of subject, translation of long sentences, etc. At the textual level, the skills of subject combination, coherence, and sentence reorganization are discussed. The fourth part is the summary of the translation practice,in which the experience of the translation process is summarized. From this translation practice, the present author gains a further understanding of translation and relevant professional knowledge,as well as well-developed translation skills.Meanwhile, some experience about translation is accumulated for the future translation work.
