Taijin Kyofusho is a common non-adaptive emotional experience. Its main feature is that in social situations, individuals are afraid that their attitudes, behaviors, and physical characteristics will offend or affect others, resulting in social avoidance or withdrawal.Although many studies have explored the factors that influence Taijin Kyofusho from aspects such as self-concept and cognition as well as social support, few studies have systematically compounded the internal and external factors such as the Social Exclusion, the Intolerance of Uncertainty and so on.Therefore, this study explores the relationship between the Social Exclusion and Taijin Kyofusho from the perspective of interpersonal interaction, and attempts to introduce the Intolerance of Uncertainty to explore its mediating role between the Social Exclusion and Taijin Kyofusho. Methods: This study consists of three sub-studies.Study 1 used the Social Exclusion Questionnaire(SEQU),the Intolerable Uncertainty Scale(IUS),and the Taijin Kyofusho Scale(TKS)to take a questionnaire survey for 556 college students in Henan.Study 2 used the SEQU,IUS and TKS to track 246 college students in Henan for six months. In the quasi-experimental format, with 52 participants as the research objects,Study 3 explored the effectiveness of the group intervention program based on the Intolerable Uncertainty to alleviate college students' Taijin Kyofusho. The results of Study 1 show that:(1)There are gender and origin differences in the Social Exclusion score among college students, grade differences in the Intolerable Uncertainty score, and gender differences in Taijin Kyofusho.(2)The Social exclusion, the Intolerance of Uncertainty are significantly positively related to Taijin Kyofusho.(3)The Intolerance of Uncertainty plays a partial mediating role between social exclusion and Taijin Kyofusho. The results of Study 2 show that:(1)the Social Exclusion significantly predicts the Intolerance of Uncertainty and Taijin Kyofusho after half a year;besides, the Intolerance of Uncertainty and Taijin Kyofusho have a mutual prediction of each other.(2)The Intolerance of Uncertainty of T2 plays a part of the mediating role between the Social Exclusion of T1 and Taijin Kyofusho of T2.The results of Study 3 show that:(1)The previous qualitative interviews indicate that participants participating in group intervention show self-blaming,blaming others, and catastrophic thinking when facing uncertain situations.(2)The Intolerance of Uncertainty score and Taijin Kyofusho score of the exprimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group. The post-test scores of the Intolerance of Uncertainty and Taijin Kyofusho of the exprimental group were significantly lower than the pre-test scores, while the pre-test and post-test scores of control group have no significant differences. To sum up,the research conclusions are as follows:(1)There is a quasi-causal relationship between the Social Exclusion and Taijin Kyofusho. The Social Exclusion is an antecedent variable.Individuals with high Social Exclusion degree have higher Taijin Kyofusho degree.(2)There is a quasi-causal relationship between the Social Exclusion and the Intolerance of Uncertainty. The Social Exclusion is an antecedent variable.Individuals with high Social Exclusion degree have higher Intolerance of Uncertainty degree.(3)The Intolerance of Uncertainty and Taijin Kyofusho have a quasi-causal relationship with each other.Individuals with high Social Exclusion degree have higher Taijin Kyofusho degree, and vice versa.(4)The Social Exclusion has an impact on Taijin Kyofusho through the Intolerance of Uncertainty. And the group intervention program based on the Intolerance of Uncertainty effectively alleviate the Taijin Kyofusho degree of college students.
