The comparative subjective polarity construction is a special structure in modern Chinese,which is common in written language and daily oral language.Among them,"nothing is more Y than X" is very flexible and frequently used.This paper intends to take the typical comparative subjective polarity structure "nothing is more Y than X" as the research object,on the basis of previous studies,the construction-chunk theory is applied to analyze its constructional meaning and constructional properties,internal semantic configuration and syntactic characteristics of variables X and Y from the perspective of cognitive grammar,and through the comparative analysis of the near-constructions,the characteristics of the subject-like polar constructions are summarized?Based on these,the "construction-chunk" teaching method is used for trying to design the grammar teaching of the construction "nothing is more Y than X".The specific content of this paper is divided into the following four parts:The introduction elucidates the origin and significance of this paper,the research objects of this paper,research methods and corpus sources;then reviews the development and application of the "construction-chunk" theory as well as the research status of comparative subjective polar constructions in modern Chinese and "nothing is more Y than X".According to overviewing the research results of "Nothing is more Y than X",we summarize the research direction of this paper.Chapter 2 judges "nothing is more Y than X" into a construction according to the grammar;gradually analyzes the construction meaning and the two means of expressing it,then explains the internal semantic configuration of "nothing is more Y than X"and concludes a "no-than-evaluation object X-evaluation result 'more Y'-evaluation range N-le" block chain.Furthermore,the syntactic types of the internal variables X and Y as well as the syntactic functions and semantic features of the whole construction are further investigated.Chapter 3 firstly inspects how the syllabus and textbook treat the grammar "nothing is more Y than X",then designs a questionnaire which is faced to international students of intermediate and advanced Chinese level,and analyzes their acquisition of construction "nothing is more Y than X".In Chapter 4,a preliminary exploration of how to teach the construction "nothing is more Y than X" with the "construction-chunk" method is proceeded comprehensively based on previous chapters.
