Since its inception,the Classic of Mountains and Seas has been the attention of scholars of all generations because of its all-encompassing and magical records,the number of people who study and annotate the book is endless.But whether it is Liu Xiang,Liu Xin of the West Han Dynasty,Guo Pu of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,Li Daoyuan of the Northern Wei Dynasty,You Mao,Zhu Xi of the Southern Song Dynasty,Yang Shen of the Ming Dynasty,Bi Yuan,Hao Yixing,Wu Chengzhi of the Qing Dynasty,etc,or modern scholars such as Mao Dun,Zheng Dekun,Cheng Jing,Yuan Ke,etc,have not really understood the contents and accurately judge the nature of the Classic of Mountains and Seas.They either regarded the Classic of Mountains and Seas as a geography book because it contains objective facts,or as the book of mystery story because it contains imagination,or as a treasure trove of ancient Chinese myths and ignore the geographical records.Thus,it is impossible to see the true value of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,and the precious ancient knowledge preserved in it has not been fully valued and utilized.Ku Chieh-kang,the main representative figure of the School of "ancient history discrimination",with his unique historical,folklore,historical geography and other comprehensive subject background and academic vision,completely broke through the past scholars on the Classic of Mountains and Seas of this kind of "take a part for the whole","care for this and loss that" of the one-sided study,and grasp the complicated contents of this book as a whole.Ku Chieh-kang,while affirming that there must be some real historical and geographical records,also admitted that it preserved many ancient Chinese myths and legends,thus,reveals the dual nature of the geography and mythology of this book,affirming the value of the book's geography,mythology and ancient history studies.Not only that,on the basis of fully understanding the contents of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,Ku Chieh-kang has carried out rigorous and thorough research and examination on many issues of this book,including its author,its era and region,the relationship with Yu Gong,the geographical scope and the role of myths and legends in examining the authenticity of ancient history,and so on,and came to a basic ally of the conclusion.Ku Chieh-kang's study of the Classic of Mountains and Seas has great academic value and pioneering significance,both in the history of the study of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,or in the history of modern Chinese history.This thesis focuses on Ku Chieh-kang's research on the Classic of Mountains and Seas,systematic combing and examining the specific processes and research conclusion of Ku Chieh-kang's study of the relevant issues of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,and placing these research conclusions in the long history of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,in order to explore the contribution and shortcomings of Ku Chieh-kang's study of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,and on this basis to give it the appropriate academic status,make his academic views well known to the academic community.Finally,we can reach the purpose of fully understand and grasp Ku Chieh-kang's academic thought and promote the study related to the Classic of Mountains and Seas.First of all,the article combed the background and history of Ku Chieh-kang's study of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,and understand the specific reasons that prompted Ku Chieh-kang to carry out this study and research process;Secondly,separate inspection the scholar from the Han Dynasty to the first of the 20th century and Ku Chieh-kang's judgement on the nature and value of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,to explore Ku Chieh-kang's outstanding contribution;Thirdly,focus on Ku Chieh-kang's geographical study of the Classic of Mountains and Seas,divide into three parts of Ku Chieh-kang's investigation of Yu Gong,the relationship between the Wu Zang Shan Jing and Yu Gong,the geographical scope of the Wu Zang Shan Jing.From this,it can be seen that Ku Chieh-kang's examination of the era of the Wu Zang Shan Jing and Yu Gong.Finally,system examined Ku Chieh-Kang's study of myths and legends in the Classic of Mountains and Seas,including story-science,religious history,national history three research orientations,respectively examples of analysis his breakthroughs and defects in the study of the myths of the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
