Tenses are important parts of English learning.They are the key content and the difficult part of English teaching in Junior high school.Tense study is helpful for students to understand English paragraphs and sentences.Although both teachers and students have realized the importance of tense learning,there are still many problems in the process of tense teaching.It is time-consuming,inefficient,confusing and so on.Therefore,teachers must make use of scientific teaching methods to ensure students' learning quality of English tenses.In order to solve the problems in English tense teaching,this study tries to make use of mind map in English tense teaching with the aim to improve the effect of English tense teaching and motivate students' learning interest.Through one semester teaching experiment,the study is intended to answer the following three questions:(1)Can the application of mind map in English tense teaching in junior high school improve students tense grades?(2)Can the application of mind map in English tense teaching in junior high school motivate students' interest in English tense learning?(3)Can the application of mind map in English tense teaching in junior high school improve the students' learning habits?The author selected two classes(class 3 and class 6)of grade 8 in Chizhou X Middle School as the research subjects.Mind map was used in teaching English tenses to students in class 3;while it was not used in teaching students in class 6.Three methods were adopted in the study: questionnaire,interview,experiment.SPSS was used to analyze the data.Through the completion of the experiment,the following conclusions were drawn:(1)The application of mind map in English tense teaching in junior high school can improve students tense grades.(2)The application of mind map in English tense teaching in junior high school can motivatestudents' interest in English tense learning?(3)The application of mind map in English tense teaching in junior high school can improve the students' learning habits.Based on the result of the study,this paper concludes that the application of mind map can greatly improve effect of English tense teaching.Last,the paper puts forward three suggestions on better use of mind map in English tense teaching with a view to perfecting mind map based English tense teaching and enhancing English tense teaching effect.
