A Report On The Translation Of Causative Structures In GCIS Of Membrane LNG Carriers

Due to the differences between languages and cultures,the expression forms and styles of Chinese and English are widely divergent,which receives a lot of attention in translation.The Society of international Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators(SIGTTO)aims to ensure the safety of LNG carriers and provide marine education codes.During the translation process of a SIGTTO file,Gas Concentrations in the Insulation Spaces of Membrane LNG Carriers(GCIS ofMembrane LNG Carriers),the author finds that the file is an operative text,including a large number of causative structures.In order to solve the problem during the translation,sentences containing the causative structure has been selected as the research object.Under the guidance of the text theory,the author analyzes the file to prove that adaptive translation strategy need to be used in the translation of causative structures in an operative textt At the lexical level,translation methods such as conversing,extending and substituting can be used;at the level of syntax,translation methods such as transposing,reversing and cutting are the choices.It is hoped through the studying and analyzing the maritime text,some translation methods can be summed up and this report would provide reference for the translation of similar texts in the future.
