Against the traditional Chinese culture background,culturally-loaded terms are words that objectively and directly reflect the unique culture of the nation in the language vocabulary system and reflections of cultural differences at the vocabulary level.Through culturally-loaded terms,we observe the ways people see the world and specific cultural phenomenon,as well as the unique styles and national characteristics they display.Based on the fourfold hermeneutic motion theory of Steiner, this article takes Li Sao's English translations by Hawkes and Xu as examples to study the similarities and differences of translation strategies of culturally-loaded terms between the two versions, analyze the reasons and summarize the enlightenment brought to culturally-loaded term translations.Under the theoretical framework of trust, aggression, incorporation and compensation, this article makes a comparison of representative culturally-loaded words.During the research process,12 representative culturally-loaded terms in Li Sao are collected.By analyzing these example sentences with culturally-loaded terms, the article reaches the conclusion that Hawkes and Xu adopt the same method in the two links of trust and compensation, but different ones in the two links of aggression and incorporation.Hawkes's translation preserves the content and form of the original text to the greatest extent and also introduces the cultural backgrounds in detail;Xu's translation integrates the Chinese and western cultures and applies western stories to the process of conveying Chinese classical culture.
