With the development of science and technology,the function of mobile phone is more and more powerful,and the mobile phone also has been playing an increasingly important role in the field of education.In the context of mobile-assisted language learning,more and more learners are using mobile phones to read English materials,so that reading is no longer limited to a certain time and place.In language learning,learning strategies play an important role.Successful language learning is often related to the proper use of strategies.Based on the literature review of learning strategies and mobile-assisted language learning,the author finds that the present studies pay less attention to the use of reading strategies of English Majors in the context of mobile-assisted language learning.Therefore,this study aims to explore the characteristics and influencing factors of reading strategies used by undergraduate English Majors in the context of mobile-assisted language learning.Based on the strategy theories proposed by Oxford,this study explores the use of reading strategies to solve the following research problems.First,what learning strategies do Chinese English-major college students employ most while reading in a context of MALL?Second,what are their ideas regarding the changes of reading strategies in a context of MALL?And third,what factors influence the implementation of reading strategies in a context of MALL?In this study,a mixed method of' quantitative research and qualitative research is adopted.The effective questionnaires from 106 English majors are collected through questionnaire survey,and the corresponding results are obtained through SPSS 25 analysis of the data,and four of them are interviewed to obtain the qualitative data.Through the analysis of the data,the results show that:(1)the most frequently used reading strategies of English majors are cognitive strategies and affective strategies.(2)English majors think that memory strategy is weakened in reading strategy use,arrangement planning strategy is weakened in metacognitive strategy use,concentration strategy is enhanced,and social strategy is of great importance.(3)the main factors that affect the use of reading strategies of English majors include external factors such as surroundings,mobile phone screen and peers,as well as internal factors such as emotional state,personal character and willFinally,the following implications are put forward:In the context of mobile-assisted language learning,English learners should choose and adjust their reading strategies to improve reading efficiency,English teachers should understand the characteristics of students' use of reading strategies,and guide students to use strategies properly,and mobile phone developers should develop reader-friendly mobile phones.
