English reading is one of the ways to check students' comprehensive English learning ability.Therefore,English reading plays a significant role in English learning.Compared with senior high school students,secondary vocational school students are relatively weak in English and they do not have more effective English reading methods and skills.In previous studies,researchers mainly investigated the reasons from the perspective of students' learning attitudes and learning abilities,ignoring the important role of English teaching methods in improving students' English reading level.Therefore,how to adopt effective teaching methods to help students improve their English reading abilities becomes an issue of English reading teaching in secondary vocational school.The thesis aims to explore an effective teaching approach in secondary vocational school students English reading.It is found that most of the current English reading teaching methods in secondary vocational school tend to be the teacher-centered model,which makes students gradually lose their interest in English reading.Nowadays,the application and practice of constructivism in education field are increasingly extensive,and the anchored instruction based on constructivism is a relatively mature teaching model.The anchored instruction emphasizes situational teaching and it requires students to actively establish the connection between the old and the new knowledge in order to help them find problems and solve problems in real situations,so as to improve their English reading ability.At present,the anchored instruction has not been deeply studied by many scholars,especially in the field of English reading teaching in secondary vocational school.Therefore,the researcher conducts a teaching experiment with the anchored instruction based on constructivism in order to guide English reading teaching in secondary vocational school.The main purpose of the research is to answer the following questions and to prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the anchored instruction in English reading teaching in secondary vocational school:1.Is the anchored instruction superior to traditional method in English reading teaching in secondary vocational school?2.Can the anchored instruction improve students' interests in English reading?3.Can the anchored instruction improve students' English reading habits?The following instruments(the experiment,the tests,the questionnaires and the interview)have been used in the research.In order to put this research experiment into practice,it takes four months from September,2018 to January,2019.The experiment was conducted by 102 students in two classes in senior one taught by the researcher in “QingXu Vocational Education Center”.A class of 50 students as a control class,they accepted the traditional teaching method in English reading classes;another class of 52 students as an experimental class,they accepted the anchored instruction in English reading classes.The experimental results show that the application of the anchored instruction in English reading classes achieves ideal teaching effects.It arouses students' interests in English reading and improves students' English reading habits.Finally,the researcher draws a conclusion to make a foundation for deep research in the future.
