The Doctrine of the Mean is an important classic in Confucianism, and the relationship between man and nature is the basic proposition of Confucianism. The study of the text of The Doctrine of Mean from the perspective of "the unity of heaven and man" will not only enrich the interpretation of The Doctrine of Mean, but also supplement the ideological history of the development of the relationship between heaven and man in Confucianism and deepen the understanding of Confucianism. This paper consists of three parts, including the introduction, the theory and the conclusion, and is divided into five chapters.Taking The Doctrine of Mean as the research object and the unity of heaven and man as the research perspective, this paper attempts to sort out the ideological thread of the unity of heaven and man in the text of The Doctrine of Mean.On the one hand, combining with the development of the ideological history of the unity of heaven and man of Confucianism in the pre-qin period, and basing on the thought of The Doctrine of Mean itself, the author tries to explore the uniqueness of the the unity of heaven and man in The Doctrine of Mean. The introduction, which reviews the research results on The Doctrine of Mean, sorts out the previous academic studies, and analyzes and summarizes the achievements and shortcomings. There are numerous researches on The Doctrine of Mean and the idea of the unity of heaven and man,but the research on the combination of the two is still largely blank. As an important classic in the pre-qin period, the study of the thought of the unity of heaven and man in The Doctrine of Mean can certainly fill in the puzzle of the thought of the unity of heaven and man in the pre-qin Confucianism. And briefly introduces the structure of the paper. The first chapter analyzes the expression of heaven and man in The Doctrine of Mean and the relationship between them from the perspective of textual analysis.First, based on the text, the paper interprets the multiple meanings of heaven and human in The Doctrine of Mean.In the thought of The Doctrine of Mean, the heaven can be summarized according to Feng youlan' s "Five Heavens”.In the thought of The Doctrine of Mean, people can be divided into two meanings:nature and morality.Although The Doctrine of Mean does not explicitly state the unity of heaven and man,it can be seen that it inherits the Confucian concept of the unity of heaven and man. This inheritance,on the one hand, develops the rationalism since Confucius, and on the other hand, continues the religious mysticism of the original Confucianism. The second chapter analyzes the core of The Doctrine of Mean:sincerity. It points out that sincerity,as the core of the thought of the unity of heaven and man,is on the one hand the core concept of the way of heaven and the way of man,and on the other hand is also the spirit of connecting heaven and man.On the one hand, the expression of sincerity in the way of heaven is the cosmological power of the creation of heaven and earth,on the other hand,it is also the ontological basis of the growth of all things. On the one hand, the expression of sincerity in humanity is the stipulation of human morality, the concrete development of "benevolence",and also the organizing principle of human society. To realize the unity of heaven and man,it must be achieved through" utmost sincerity".The third chapter studies the methodology of the unity of heaven and man in The Doctrine of Mean.In The Doctrine of Mean, the method of the unity of heaven and man can be summarized as "nature" and "monasticism".At the same time,it is necessary to maintain the cultivation methods of "Fear" and "Shendu" to ensure the consistency of theory. The summarizes the conclusion and value of this paper. It points out that the unity of heaven and man is an indispensable part of the study of The Doctrine of Mean.
