Analysis Of The Musical Characteristics And Singing Of Jiajiang Tang Lantern Drama In Sichuan

Tang lantern drama,a branch of Sichuan lantern drama,is mainly popular in the southern region of Sichuan.The most typical example is the one found in Jiajiang county in the city of Leshan,so Tang lantern drama is also called Jiajiang Tang lantern drama.Tang Lantern drama is not only one of the representatives of the Bashu culture,but also included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage projects in Sichuan Province in 2008.As a song and dance drama,Tang lantern drama originated from the art of song and dance.In traditional rural societies,Tang lantern drama had important social significance and cultural value.The introduction of the reform and opening-up policy has brought in great changes in social life and a diversified development of music culture,leaving the lantern drama in an unprecedented crisis of extinction.With the current trend of emphasizing on diversity and openness in the national vocal performance system,a series of questions,such as how people should deal with,and how to learn and learn from traditional vocal art,have become a common concern in the academic circle.Against the above two backdrops,this paper chooses to take the Tang lantern drama as the research sbject,focusing on the exploration of its musical characteristics and singing skills.By conducting a detailed analysis on the 22 singing segments of Return the Marriage Gifts,a contemporary Tang lantern drama,the paper seeks to provide suggestion on how Tang lantern drama could develop in the modern society.Thus,this paper is divided into six main chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces Tang lantern drama and presents the literature review.The second chapter reviews the musical and artistic characteristics of Tang lantern drama and the composition of the sound cavity of Return the Marriage Gifts.In the following three core chapters,the author focuses on Return the Marriage Gifts,conducting a detailed analysis on the melody,lyrics and performance of the drama,and laying out the related morphological characteristics and technical points.In Chapter Six,considering the overall artistic style of and the creative orientation of Return the Marriage Gifts,the author discusses the two issues with regard to the protection and inheritance of Tang lantern drama,and the four basic strategies for its innovative development,hoping to provide a case study for the revival and sustainable development of traditional vocal music in the modern society.
