Master of Translation and Interpreting Program(hereinafter referred to as MTI Program)was established to meet the requirement of China for high-level professional translators and interpreters.Translation internship and practice of MTI candidates(English translation),an indispensable part of MTI education,is crucial to the training of qualified translators and interpreters.The present survey is designed to investigate "Translation Internship and Practice of MTI Candidates(English Translation)".The author chooses MTI candidates(English translation)as the research subjects and employs a questionnaire survey to do the research.The online questionnaire tool "SO JUMP" is used to issue and collect questionnaires.The report is based on single-item analysis and cross-analysis of the survey data.The report aims to make a comprehensive analysis of the status quo of the translation internship and practice of MTI candidates(English translation)by analyzing the research data of five major influencing factors including course design,teaching staff allocation,simulated translation workshop,translation practice bases and evaluation model of translation quality in order to make feasible suggestions for future internship and practice of MTI candidates.The research findings of the survey are as follows:A large majority of MTI candidates are not satisfied with their translation internship and practice during their master's degree program;MTI candidates' translation task fulfillment is not enough and their translation internship duration is relatively short.The reason for these problems is that there are certain deficiencies and shortcomings in the course design,teaching staff allocation,arrangement of simulated translation workshop,translation practice bases and evaluation model of translation quality.Therefore,on the basis of the research results,the author of this report suggests that a variety of translation practice-oriented courses should be incorporated into the syllabus,diversified MTI teaching teams should be developed,translation workshops should be set up,translation practice bases should be established,and a comprehensive and thorough evaluation model of translation quality should be developed to further develop the translation competence of the MTI candidates.
