Study On The Zhonghe("Golden Mean" And "Harmony") Theory Of Kang Youwei

The theory of Zhonghe("golden mean" and "harmony")has always been an important philosophical concept in Chinese Confucianism.From the pre-Qin period to the Song and Ming Dynasty,Chinese philosophers have made a profound study of it.It is for this reason that in the Qing Dynasty Kang Youwei's era,there were many ideas,so Kang Youwei put forward his own theory on the basis of the critical reflection of predecessors.Kang Youwei greatly admired Zhu Xi,so his thought of the doctrine of Zhonghe("golden mean" and "harmony")was also developed around Zhu Xi's theory.Kang Youwei thought that in Zhu Xi's theory,there was no difference between the“already happening” and the “before happening”,they were the different existence of Tao.Zhu Xi's emphasis was on the body of nature,not the body of heart.Zhu xi attached great importance to the cultivation method of worship,and advocated more self-restraint and experience when “before happening”.Based on the admiration of Zhu Xi,and through criticism of the previous generation of ideologists,Kang Youwei finally established his own Zhonghe("golden mean" and "harmony")theory.Kang youwei regarded "golden mean" as "harmony",and he believed that the requirement of "harmony" was reached when all things in the world were in a state of "golden mean".He thought that "wisdom" should be used to balance the over and less,and regarded "wisdom" as the standard of Zhonghe("golden mean" and "harmony").He thought that the first way to cultivate the mind was like to protect "the heat under the ashes",that is to say,people should not try to poke up the “before happening” all the time,should not try to find the “before happening” heart,and people should constantly examine their own mind.Secondly,people should balance the over and less through the methold of "wisdom" to achieve the state of Zhonghe("golden mean" and "harmony").Finally,he believed that people should emphasize the role of learning to control emotions.
