In recent years, more and more researches have focused on the influence of emotions on intertemporal choice, and a large number of research results have been produced.Based on previous literature, the results can be roughly divided into two categories: one is based on emotional valence, and the other is based on ATF theory to explore specific emotions. At present, more and more studies have found that research based on emotional valence is too general, and emotions under the same valence often have inconsistent decision conclusions. Therefore, this study will explore its impact on intertemporal choice based on specific emotional paradigms. In addition, previous studies have mostly studied the impact of emotion on intertemporal choice from an individual perspective. In our daily work life,in addition to making decisions for ourselves,we also make decisions for groups, particularly, when making decisions for groups that include you. Therefore, exploring the influence of emotions on intertemporal selection in group situations has important theoretical and practical value. This study evokes specific emotions through movie clips, and uses two experiments to explore the effects of emotions on self and our intertemporal choices. The first experiment used 3(emotions: happy, angry, neutral)× 2(decision-maker roles: for me,for us).The results show that, compared with participants in neutral moods, participants are more inclined to long-term options in happiness and anger.Making decisions for us is more long-term than making decisions for ourselves. With happiness and anger, there is no significant difference in the results for self and for us.Under neutral emotions, making decisions for ourselves is more short-sighted than making decisions for us.The second experiment used 3(emotions: fear, anger, neutral)× 2(decision-maker roles: for me,for us).The results show that, compared with participants under neutral emotions, participants under fear and anger tend to delay rewards.Making decisions for us is more long-term than making decisions for ourselves. In fear and anger, there is no significant difference in the results for self and for us.Under neutral emotions, making decisions for ourselves is more short-sighted than making decisions for us.To sum up,this study draws the following conclusions: compared with the subjects in neutral mood, the subjects in happy, angry and fear mood have lower time discount rate, and are more inclined to choose delay option. The discount rate of time for us is lower than for self, and we prefer to choose delayed reward. There was no significant difference in the results of decision-making for us and for self between the condition in happy, angry and fear, but in the neutral mood, making decisions for us is more likely to choose delay options and take a longer view than making decisions for self.
