Ceramic is an important category in Chinese arts and crafts. As a important factor in ceramic, royal kiln has far-reaching significance.Ceramic ornament aesthetics is one of the sources of ornament aesthetics and Chinese traditional aesthetics,it embodies the core features of Chinese decorative art.Through the study of the decorative patterns of the royal kiln ceramics in Ming and Qing dynasties,we can explore the logic behind the representation and understand the spirit of the times through ceramic decoration. From this perspective, this study choose the visual perception theory to explore the aesthetic cognition of royal kiln ceramic in Ming and Qing Dynasties.Visual perception theory was created by Rudolf Arnheim who held the idea that visual power is the intermediary of form aesthetics. This theory ascribes the visual aesthetic feeling of art form to the function of force. After transmission, confrontation, ablation and other effects, visual perception can achieve an balanced resultant force state.A beautiful art can not live without balanced visual perception.Taking scroll pattern as an example, this paper analyzes the modeling tension and aesthetic characteristics of the complex patterns of Royal Kiln ceramic's ornaments in Ming and Qing dynasties. This paper makes an exploratory study on the development of ceramic aesthetics. At first, the thesis makes a comprehensive analysis on the principle and operation mode of visual perception and visual power. The visual perception theory was extended to the background and spirit of the scroll pattern of royal kiln ceramics in Ming and Qing dynasties, lay the foundation for aesthetic cognition of ornaments.Secondly, this paper expounds the external visual perception of scroll pattern and the dynamic aesthetic characteristics in the rules of pattern formation. It is concluded that no matter how the pattern is displayed, the shape posture should meet the needs of the viewer's visual balance of force,so that the viewer can obtain a suitable psychological experience of visual force,so that the viewer can produce a sense of pleasure and psychological comfort, and also feel the aesthetic value. This thesis is an extended application of visual perception theory,it provides a new method for the study of ceramic decoration aesthetics. This thesis is also aimed at specific forms of scroll pattern of royal kiln ceramics in Ming and Qing dynasties. This paper try to improve the visual acuity and aesthetic form perception of scroll pattern, and to put forward a new theoretical research direction and a reference of creative ways to improve the visual effect of contemporary art design.
