Contrast Study Of Folk-custom Of Ceramic Produced At Yaozhou Kiln And Jizhou Kiln In Song Dynasty And Yuan Dynasty

Yaozhou Kiln and Jizhou Kiln are famous civil kilns of our country in Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty representing northern style and southern style respectively.The ceramic produced at these two kilns shows both folk-cusnom culture of the local common people and its own ceramic culture. Although these two kilns have stopped producing ceramic for several hundred years, their influence can still be seen in common people’s folk-custom in both areas of Tongzhou and Jian. This article describes the author’s study of the ceramic produced at Yaozhou Kiln and Jizhou Kiln in three aspects. They are: the shaping, the decorative patterns, and the decorative craft of the ceramic. The author also try to comprehend the folk tradition and customs, the ideological “sediment” of the folk people in these two areas. Then further explore this characteristic folk-custom cultrue so as to inherit and develop it.To describe the author’s study about property of folk custom of the ceramic produced at Yaozhou Kiln and Jizhou Kiln, this article is divided into three parts.The first part overviews the civil kilns in our country. The civil kilns in Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty scattered everywhere. The ceramic-making and ceramic-appreciating ability had reached the highest level of that period. This chapter takes the Yaozhou Kiln in the northern area and Jizhou Kiln in the southern area as example to simply introduce the simple temperament and the craft style closing common people’s daily life of the ceramic produced at civil kiln in that periodThe second part describes the craft style of Yaozhou Kiln and Jizhou Kiln respectively acording to its background of region and culture. Influenced by the forthright, honest and sincere Sanxi culture, the ceramic produced at Yaozhou Kiln presents the character of bold and unrestrained style. While influenced by scholar’s flavour, the ceramic produced at Jizhou Kiln that is sited in Jian city, Jiangxi province,has a classic, plain and pretty craft style.The third part, by summarizing modeling, decorative patterns, and decorative art ofthe ceramic produced at Yaozhou Kiln and Jizhou Kiln in Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty, the author describes folk tradition and fold customs behind the local custom.Yaozhou Kiln and Jizhou Kiln were two kinds of kiln sited in southern area and northern area respectively, and each has its own distinct national artistic style. The ceramic produced at both kilns has the similar decorative patterns but difference in shaping and decorative craft. Hence, there were vast differences in craft styles between these two kinds of ceramic produced at both kilns.Finally, summarizing some problems existing in the inheritance model and developing process of folk-custom culture of ceramic produced at Yaozhou Kiln and Jizhou Kiln, the author puts forward some advice about how to preferably inherit and develop folk-custom culture of the ceramic produced at Jizhou Kiln and Yaozhou Kiln.
