The rapid development of medical technology has witnessed the booming exchanges in the medical field both at home and abroad.Medical journals,as important platforms for professional exchanges, play an essential role in the medical exchanges. The material for this translation practice report was derived from 2 English-language literature on gynecological medicine published in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology in May 2019,both of which are included in SCI,SCI Extended Repository,Medline, and National Library of Medicine(NLM).This translation practice report is guided by Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory.Under the guidance of this theory and in combination with the characteristics of medical English itself, functional equivalence theory is applied to lexical-level,syntactic-level and textual-level,respectively.Among them,at the lexical level, medical terms, abbreviations and eponyms are analyzed. At the syntactic level,it is elaborated through long sentence and passive voice. At the textual-level,the analysis is made through coherence of logic-semantic and equivalence of statistical analysis.Examples are given to illustrate in detail, and difficulties in medical English translation are summarized, and solutions are proposed for corresponding difficulties. This translation practice report mainly discusses the translation skills and difficulties of medical English papers. It applies the functional equivalence theory to lexical-level,syntactic-level and textual-level in order to achieve the equivalence from semantics to text, aiming at improving the translation quality of medical English papers. The author hopes that this translation practice report can provide some theoretical basis and guidance for medical English translators, aiming at making her own small contribution to promoting the exchange of medical undertakings at home and abroad and the full display of China's medical achievements on the international stage.
