Since ancient times,people have pondered the question of death and immortality.For humans,death is both a certainty and the most uncertain thing,but the only certainty is that everyone will die.As the final destination of life,death has always been the ultimate proposition of human thinking.Film noir presents death through its unique artistic characteristics.Through the multi-dimensional and multi-angle image expression of death,it transforms the terrible death into a metaphorical death image,which contains certain aesthetic implications.Film noir has never been stingy with its treatment of death,and is even keener on its representation.The research on death image in film noir is mainly discussed in three parts.The first part is a brief overview of the two key words film noir and death image.Starting from the generalization of noir by different scholars,this paper divides noir into its development in the west and China,and briefly describes the development course of noir.At the same time,a holistic analysis is made from the two aspects of thinking about the death problem and the death image as the artistic expression of death.From this,the most basic understanding of film noir and death image was generated,which paved the way for the in-depth exploration of death image in film noir.The second part begins to promote the development of the thesis,which mainly discusses concretely the artistic expression of death image in film noir.Starting from male and female characters,this paper briefly analyzes the theme of film noir.Then from five aspects of camera language performance,the use of three kinds of function,the three levels of death implication as well as the two aspects of aesthetic experience,this paper analysis on black film the death image art is the point of death image through film noir is clever,digging out the death image in the image of the multiple value.The third part is a critical analysis of the death image in film noir.Through the dialectical analysis of the meaning and limitation of death image in film noir,the existence of death image is viewed in two ways.At the same time,it summarizes thethree issues of strengthening the integration of film types,paying attention to the change of film audiences,and paying attention to the balance between art and business,so as to provide a broader development space for contemporary and future Chinese film noir.
