With the expanding of domestic's international Chinese education and the development of oversea Confucius Institute,international students are increasingly enthusiastic about teaching Chinese as a foreign language.However,due to the characteristics and difficulty of learn Chinese,as the curriculum learning in depth,foreign student may appears some puzzles and misleading.The common verb "eat"has produced a huge amount of verb object collocations due to its rich semantic and cultural connotation,among which there are regular objects that are easy to understand and unconventional objects that are difficult to comprehend.This paper will taking some common dictionaries as examples,according to the meaning of'eat'to classifies and look for patterns in the unconventional objects.Based on the "eat+unconventional object" in Chinese,this paper attempts to analyzes the perspective of English.From the semantics of "eat" to object classifications,and then make a comparison between English and Chinese,and find the differences in semantics,reason,structure and other aspects.In view of these differences,a questionnaire was developed to investigate the foreign students'mastery of Chinese language and culture.Following with the frequency of unconventional objects use in "HSK corpus",to find out the errors and avoidance strategies of foreign students in the process of learning.At last,the paper analyzes the widely used corresponding teaching materials,observe their advantages and disadvantages in the teaching of "eating+unconventional objects",and related them with the errors.Finally,we will review and summarize the teaching methods,explain the rationality of teaching process,and make teaching plans to improve the teaching effect of "eating+unconventional objects" for international students,and help them overcome the avoidance psychology.
