The Study Of Hunger Writing In Mo Yan's Novels

Hunger is one of the core subjects of Mo Yan's novels,which has appeared in more than 20 writings of Mo Yan,and the hunger writing is an essential part that can not be ignored in Mo Yan's literary world.Mo Yan has a strong hunger complex,in a speech entitled Hunger and loneliness is my wealth of writing,Mo Yan affirmed the importance of hunger in his·literary writing.Studying the hunger writing in Mo Yan's novels is an effective way to penetrate Mo Yan's literature world.Up to now,the studies of Mo Yan's hunger writing only scratch the surface,this thesis will based on these researches and integrate the hunger writing texts in Mo Yan's novels,try to analyze the contents and artistic style of hunger writing,explore the value and reasons through the way of close reading and comparative study,and then to excavate the uniqueness of Mo Yan's hungry writing.This thesis will also try to study Mo Yan's hungry writing in a complete and systematic view.The thesis will be divided into three chapters:The first chapter explores the specific presentation of hunger writing in Mo Yan's novel,it can be divided into two parts:physical hunger and mental hunger.This paper defines the suffering of body caused by hunger as physical hunger,and the wound in the spirit caused by hunger as mental hunger.physical hunger contains three perspectives:front,side and back,including the horrible sight of famine,the distortion of eating habits in famine and Carousals wrapped in hunger.Mental hunger contains three levels which is progressive,including desire happiness,the powerless resistance and the Mental disability.Mo Yan's hunger writing is totally different from other authors because its variety.The second chapter explores the aesthetic characteristics of Mo Yan's hungry writing,it means the unique artistic style of Mo Yan's hungry writing.First,seriousness and realistic hide behind the comicality and absurdity,and that enhanced the satirize and humorous of Mo Yan's writing.Second,in the treatment of fabrication and reality,Mo Yan shows the extraordinary imagination,explores a new path of hunger writing in the character shaping and other aspects.By the combination of Visional plots and veracious details,Mo Yan created some hunger writing of magical realism.The aesthetic characteristics of Mo Yan's hunger writing is also totally different from others.The third chapter discusses the value of Mo Yan's hunger writing at first,and it can be divided into three aspects,the first one is that Mo Yan showed the living condition of the people at the bottom,including the boiling of life consciousness and the degeneration of human nature,it's a unique advantage of Mo Yan.The second one is the introspection on the power structure of village and the alienation of power.And the third one is revealing the real face of the sequelae of hunger in the process of modernization,it means the distortion and the dilatation of appetite,there is nobody mentioned this before.This thesis also discusses the reasons of Mo Yan's writing hunger:First,the childhood experiences of suffering hunger and rebelling against hunger make Mo Yan's hunger writing is full of despair as well as hope;Second,the combination of farmer and writer decides that Mo Yan's hunger writing is affected by both dominant folk stand and latent talent stand.
