Lead-in plays an important role in senior high school English reading teaching.Although lead-in only lasts a few minutes,it has an important position in teaching activities.Articles in senior high school English reading class are usually long and cover a wide range of topics;reading teaching usually takes more time than teaching of other English skills.Therefore,reading teaching is an import part in high English teaching.Well-designed lead-in in reading teaching can attract students' attention,stimulate their interest in English,and create a good learning atmosphere in English reading teaching.It can also help to activate students' existing knowledge,build a bridge between the past and present knowledge,enable students to give full play to their initiative in English learning,and improve the quality of English teaching so as to achieve teaching goals efficiently.This study randomly chooses 12 reading teaching course videos from videos of high-quality English reading teaching competition from 2016 to 2018 as study subjects.It adopts such research methods as the classroom observation,script analysis,and case analysis.The researcher transcribes the part of lead-in in each video into written text during the observation process.Through the analysis of data of the lead-in methods used by teachers,the role of teachers in different combination of lead-in methods of senior high school English reading classes,and students' classroom participation in different combinations of lead-in methods,the study is intended to get to know how the lead-in methods are used in high-quality English reading teaching in senior high schools,with a view to providing suggestions for normal classes and improve the quality of English reading teaching in senior high school.The results of the study indicate that:(1)There are many ways of lead-in in high-quality English reading teaching in senior high school,among which lead-ins by means of dialogue,picture,question and video are most frequently employed.According to the teaching objectives and the characteristics of teaching materials,theteachers cleverly and flexibly design effective lead-in methods,and achieve remarkable teaching results.(2)Teachers play different roles in different combinations of lead-ins.They play more roles as designers,promoters,organizers and controllers.Through successfully playing their different roles,teachers can effectively organize classroom teaching activities,manage classroom rhythm,guide students to participate in interaction and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning,so as to successfully introduce teaching themes.(3)The application of multiple combinations of lead-ins in high-quality English reading teaching can stimulate students' curiosity and curiosity,open up their thinking,mobilize their emotions,and give full play to their subjectivity.Especially in the combination of dialogue and game,students show strong interest in reading teaching and actively participate in class activities.Based on the results of the analysis,this study puts forward the following suggestions for normal reading class in senior high school: In senior high school English reading teaching,instead of adopting the single lead-in method,teachers can combine different lead-in methods effectively.Teachers can play diverse roles so as to make use of lead-in methods flexibly and successfully.Combinations of lead-in methods can be flexibly implemented to increase student participation.
