This report is based on the E-C translation of the science fiction.Tom Swift and Hi.s Deep-Sea Hydrodome,written by Victor Appleton ?.This science fiction explores a world of scientific and technological innovations intermingled with Tom and his friends'adventure.It provokes the readers'imagination with vivid.creative and absorbing language,and is worthy of translating and appreciating.In the translation process,the translator finds vivid and expressive language is the key in children's literature.An effective translation is the precondition to restore the essence of English children's literature.Under the guidance of Readers' Response Theory,the translator endeavors to adopt strategies in line with the Chinese children's expectation horizons,aesthetic preferences and aesthetic abilities.In light of this,problems encountered in the translation process are solved so as to deliver the original flavor to the readers and conform to the target language habits at the same time.Based on the translation practice of over 90,000 English words,the report summarizes main difficulties and problems encountered and proposed appropriate countermeasures through probing into the root causes from the perspective of English and Chinese disparities.By virtue of analyzing typical examples quoted from the translation task,the report focuses on adopting the most applicable approaches according to the children's language ability so that they could easily understand the literature.The report elaborates on the reflections on the translation practice and may inspire other translators as a reference for them.
