“Agriculture,rural area,and farmer” is a fundamental issue related to national economy and people's livelihood,and is the top priority of the party's work.The Rural Revitalization Strategy clearly puts priority on the development of rural education to reserve talents.The quality of rural compulsory education directly affects the success or failure of Rural Revitalization,and we should actively integrate urban and rural recourses to develop a balanced compulsory education mechanism.English is an indispensable skill in international communication and learning.In China,English has become an important subject that runs through students' all learning stages.However,rural students are relatively backward in English under the dual urban-rural structure.This situation not only affects the further development of rural students,but also affects the improvement of rural compulsory education and the process of Rural Revitalization.Therefore,it is urgent to improve rural middle school students' English level.This paper carried out a survey on the current situation of English learning among rural middle school students in Zhoushan.The questionnaire method,interview method and educational observation method were used to conduct an in-depth survey of teachers and students in four types of rural schools.And then put forward improvement strategies,mainly as follows: focusing on rural education and paying attention to English learning;stimulating internal motivation and putting students in center,correcting bad habits and improving learning efficiency;recognizing shortcomings and implementing firmly;creating a comfortable environment and improving children's study;paying attention to children's psychology and forming reasonable expectations;improving school conditions and promoting outlying island education;establishing a guarantee mechanism and strengthening teachers' profession.This research provides reference,support and inspiration for the development of rural compulsory education and the revitalization of rural education in theory and practice,further improving the balance of compulsory education in urban and ruralareas,and playing an important role in the process of building a new socialist countryside.
