Research On Henan Art Associations In The Republic Of China

The period of the Republic of China is a crucial period for the modernization of Chinese art.This is because after the founding of the Republic of China,the government wanted people to focus on culture and education,emancipating the minds of the people,the constant collision of new and old ideas in society,the free development of art and culture,and the emergence of masters in various fields.The large-scale emergence of art communities in Henan is a concrete manifestation.There have been 210 art associations in Henan in the Republic of China.Their organizational nature includes government-run,private-run and government-civilian joint ventures,involving music,fine arts,and drama.The distribution of art communities in the Henan region of the Republic of China showed a significant imbalance,mainly concentrated in the eastern Henan region with developed economy,convenient transportation,strong cultural atmosphere,and Kaifeng as the center.From the beginning to the maturity of the art community in Henan,the Republic of China experienced three stages.The period from 1912 to 1936 was the early stage of development.With the goal of "moving the wind and changing the customs to the right of the people",it opened new civic lifestyles through artistic activities through drama improvement and the art revolution.The period from 1937 to 1945 was prosperous.With the spirit of "awakening the people to save their lives",they vigorously promoted revolutionary ideas to the people by organizing anti-Japanese cultural activities.The period from 1946 to 1949 was a mature stage.According to the needs of the times,the artistic purpose of "reforming the old and promote the new to get closer to society" was put forward,which promoted the evolution of local art towards nationalization and popularization.Many art associations in the Henan area played an important role in the modernization of local arts.More typically,for example,Zhang Sizhen created Henan's first modern art society—Henan New Drama Troupe,and hired the famous drama artist Liu Yizhou to improve local traditional operas.He founded a drama school to promote art education,published the?Eagle Drama Newspaper?to promote Art dissemination,and co-operation with four theater troupes to perform social responsibilities;Ma Ke's roaring singing team created a large number of realistic revolutionary songs that integrate the elements of Henan folk songs and have been influential to the present.The fan-face painting club founded by Song Xiaodong is not only different from the Shanghai Fine Arts Society that created Western paintings,but also different from the Beijing Fine Arts Society that specializes in traditional painting.In order to achieve the local heritage and innovation of traditional Chinese artAll in all,the flourishing development of the art communities in the Henan area in the Republic of China has formed local art groups and art schools with regional characteristics.For example,the development of Yu opera is inseparable from the improvement of traditional opera by the Yusheng Drama Academy and the Zhongzhou Opera Research Society.The realistic revolutionary songs created by the roaring singing team have led the modern music trend in Henan.The fan-face painting club and other art associations have stabilized the artistic status of traditional Chinese painting.The art associations of Henan region in the Republic of China produced a group of artists of great strength in their interactions with art associations in other regions,and contributed valuable power to the creation of the Yu Opera genre,the dissemination of modern prints,and the rise of revolutionary music.Therefore,the Henan art community in the Republic of China is not only strongly promoted the modern transformation of local art concepts,but also an important part of the narrative of modern Chinese art history.An in-depth study of it is not only a retrospective review of history,but also an inspiration to the current development of Henan art.
