A Multi-angle Study Of The Construction "Gai X Jiu X"

The research on "gai X jiu X" is mainly explained by "three dimensions" in academic circles,many issues have not yet been involved or need to be further studied.As a result,it is necessary and significant to carry out deeper studies on "gai X jiu X".This article attempts to accomplish a more detailed study of "gai X jiu X" on the aspects of special working forms,semantics,formation mechanism and motivation.Firstly,we can determine that "gai X jiu X" is a sort of special working form of construction and analyzing construction.In the light of the two criteria of "mleanings match with forms" and "incomplete predictability",we could decide that "gai X jiu X" is a construction form."Variant form" and "continuous form" are two special forms of "gai X jiu X".The "variant form" contains two cases which are "shedding form" and "different types of'X1' and 'X2'" and that the two categories can be subdivided into several subcategories;the"continuous form" is divided into two categories which are "continuous form of two constructions" and "continuous form of multiple constructions".The two categories can also be subdivided into several subcategories,and the arrangement of "X" in several constructions in the "continuous form" follows the principles of word formation order,logical order,semantic order from low degree to high degree,primary and secondary order,and the order of known information and so forth.Secondly,the article aims to analyze the semantics of the components and the constructions separately."Gai" has the semantic characteristics of "restrictive" and"subjective","Jiu" has the semantic characteristics of "acceptable","affirmatory" and"transient","X" has the semantic characteristics of "autonomous" "incomplete" and"non-negative".The constructional meaning of the single-use form is to follow the subjective and objective requirements so as to realize "X" undisturbed,naturally,and decisively,besides,the construction contains the speaker's strong subjective emphasis.Apart from the construction meaning of single form,the construction meaning of continuous form also has its own special meaning,which represents the semantics of all construction including several continuous forms;the continuous constructions achieve semantic value-added is via the ways of comparison highlighted and typical inducted.The whole construction has the semantic characteristics of "incomplete" and "relational".Finally,the formation mechanism and motivation are analyzed.The external formation mechanism of "gai X jiu X" is analogy and replacement,and the internal formation mechanism is re-analysis and conceptual integration.The cognitive motivations of the constructional single-use form are order similarity motivation and distance similarity motivation;in addition to the cognitive motivation of the single-use form,the constructional continuous form is also affected by the space similarity motivation.The pragmatic motivation of the construction are the principles of language economy and the frequency.In addition,many four-character configurations are spread by the aesthetic requirements of"four characters as positive" in Chinese,and the psychological mechanism of symmetry,harmony,balance and dialectics prompted plenty of symmetry within the continuous form.
