An Investigation Of "X Yilai" And "X Lai" In Modern Chinese

Based on the results of previous studies,this article is based on the Corpus of Peking University Chinese Language Research Center and the Corpus of Beijng Language and Culture University.According to the "small triangle" theory,from the perspective of synchrony,the combination of statistics and data analysis,description and interpretation combined method,multi-dimensionally examine the time structure "X yilai" and "X lai".In modern Chinese,the meanings and usages of "X yilai" and "X lai"are similar.The predecessors rarely compare these two time structures together.However,in this paper,the author compared these two time structures,analyzed the commonness and differences of "X yilai" and "X lai" in a more comprehensive way.In modern Chinese,"yilai",can not be used alone,and it is generally used as a post component to form the time structure "X yilai".We found that there is a big difference between prepositions in "X",therefore,this paper studies these two situations separately and writes them into the form of "X" yilai" and "PX2 yilai"."X1" and "X2" can be words,phrases and complex components,but "X2" can not be adjectives and adverbs,and 13 prepositions are examined."X1 yilai" and "PX2 yilai" can be used as adverbial and attributive,while "X1 yilai" can also be used as a complement."X1 yilai" and "PX2 yilai"indicate the time from the past to the present,while "X1 yilai" emphasizes the present,"PX2 yilai",emphasizes the beginning of time and the present,and the beginning of time is stronger.The time category of "X1"can be calendar time and measured time,while"X2" is generally calendar time."X1 yilai" and "PX2 yilai" have the functions of time indication,discourse indication,discourse cohesion and narrative.The predecessors had different views on the relationship between "yilai" and "lai".We regard "yilai" and "lai" as two independent individuals,and found that "X yilai" and"X lai" are quite different in syntax,semantics and pragmatics."yilai" and "lai" can be attached to words.and phrases,"yilai" can also be attached to complex components;"X yilai" and "X lai" can be used as adverbial and attributive,and "X yilai" can be used as complement."X yilai" and "X lai" represent the time from the past to the present,and "X lai" can also represent the time in the future."X yilai" and "X lai" have the functions of time indication,discourse indication and discourse cohesion,while "X yilai" also has a narrative function.The main reasons for the exchange of "X yilai" and "X lai" are the choice of semantics and the subjective viewpoint of language users.Through multi-angle analysis of "X yilai" and "X lai",it is expected to have important practical value for mother tongue and Chinese teaching for foreigners.
