A Study On The Modern Character Of Old Tales Retold And Lu Xun's Urban Experience

"Modern character" is the expression of "Modernity" in literature,that is,the modernity in literary character.It is the artistic quality that literature starts modern thinking under the modern concept,uses modern expression mode,expresses modern thoughts and feelings,and embodies modern aesthetic purport.As the spiritual core of modernization,modernity has a relationship with the city.Then,the modern city becomes the best soil for the formation of literature "modern character".Taking modern city as the entry point,this paper attempts to explore the influence of Lu Xun's urban experience on the formation of "modern character" in the new story,which is manifested in three aspects:1)the influence of Lu Xun's urban experience on the daily narrative of the new story;2)the relationship between Lu Xun's urban experience and the spatial reality of the new story;3)the role of Lu Xun's urban experience in the formation of modern art features in Old Tales Retold.By placing this collection of novels in the process of urbanization in China in the 20th century,this paper aims to find out the uniqueness and profundity of this collection of novels that no one can learn.Therefore,the purpose of this paper is to explore the important role of Lu Xun's personalized and profound urban experience in the process of urbanization of China in the 20th century in the formation of modern character of Old Tales Retold.First of all,the introduction part of this paper states the basis and significance of the topic,reviews and analyzes the research history and current situation of the new story,and expounds two core concepts of this paper:Lu Xun's urban experience and modern character.Secondly,the first chapter of this paper discusses Lu Xun's urban daily life experience on the daily life narrative of the new story.Through the analysis of Lu Xun's experience of the supremacy of urban material,the spread of rumors and the consciousness of citizens,this paper expounds the formation of the daily life narrative of the new stories from three aspects:the daily life of myths,the vulgarization of heroes and the representativeness of mythical women.Thirdly,the second chapter discusses the influence of Lu Xun's urban space experience on the spatial reality of Old Tales Retold.Old Tales Retold has realized the actualization from the living space,working space and public space of the characters'activities,it shows the protagonist's dilemma in space.The existential dilemma of the characters is Lu Xun's literary expression of his understanding of "space politics":Lu Xun's several moves in the 1920s are the internal source of the lonely writing of mending the sky,running to the moon and casting the sword;the action dilemma of the characters in Old Tales Retold is Lu Xun's metaphor for his deep experience of Shanghai's space gradation.Finally,the third chapter of this paper discusses the role of Lu Xun's urban cultural experience in the formation of modern art style of Old Tales Retold,which is divided into three groups.First,the author adopts Zheng Jiajian's view that "oily" is a unique way of understanding society,history and culture,and a special vision of observing the life,and believes that Lu Xun's experience of urban heterogeneous culture is condensed in Old Tales Retold through "oily".Second,the modern color of the satire art in the new story is reflected in the use of "satirizing the present with the past" and "essay writing".The social information space built by newspapers and the various kinds of news published are the important basis for the formation of the artistic style of "satirizing the present with the past";at the same time,the strict censorship system of books and newspapers in the Republic of China is also an important reason for Lu Xun's "satirizing the present with the past".On the other hand,the newspaper materials and the "collage method" borrowed from the newspaper create new vitality for the application of "essay writing method" in the compilation of Old Tales Retold.Thirdly,Lu Xun's "shock" experience of modern city is the inner power of the exaggeration of female characters and the extreme exaggeration of material civilization.
