With the rise of the Internet, more and more people are participating in the world of the Internet. The increase in network users has triggered many unexpected things. With the diversification of user types,a series of problems have been brought to different types of users.Among many problems, the use of pathological network by junior middle school students has attracted attention. The junior middle school stage is a critical stage for students in their puberty, which is a transitional period from the student age.It plays an extremely important role in the development of students' physical and mental development. If the students have pathological network usage characteristics at this stage, they will affect their learning interest, generate academic anxiety, and then affect academic performance in the end.A higher academic anxiety will affect their academic performance, and students may have to avoid academic performance, which contribute to pathological internet use behavior. This shows that in the process of student learning, pathological network use and academic anxiety will have a greater impact on students, and it is one of the reference factors for students' excellent and inferior academic performance. This study combines the characteristics of junior middle school students'learning and physical and mental development, and aims to understand the current status of junior middle school students' pathological network use, academic anxiety, and academic performance, and to study the relationship between junior middle school students' pathological network use, academic anxiety, and academic performance.Explore the factors that affect junior middle school students' academic anxiety, and design group counseling activities based on these factors and related theories of group counseling. This study selected a middle school in Wuhan,Hubei Province, and the students in the first and second grades were taken as the research object.A questionnaire survey was used for research.382 questionnaires were distributed and 355 valid questionnaires were recovered.Based on the results of the data,20 students with high academic anxiety were chosen as subjects, and they were separated into 10 experimental groups and 10 control groups at random, with 5 males and 5 females severally in each group.group counseling studies of 8 times were proceeded on the experimental group members, and the control group did eight times non-counseling group activities. The results show that there is a significant grade difference in junior high school students' academic anxiety. The academic anxiety in junior middle school is higher than that in junior high school. There is no significant difference in academic anxiety in gender. There is no significant difference in pathological network use. There is a significant negative correlation between use, academic anxiety, and academic performance.Pathological network use significantly predicts academic anxiety.Junior high school students' academic anxiety plays a mediating role in the impact of pathological network use on academic performance.Studies have shown that the subjects in the experimental group had obvious variances in pathological network use, academic anxiety, and academic performance after group counseling, academic anxiety is lower than the level before the experiment, and academic performance of experimental group is higher than the level before the experiment. The subjects of the control group had no evident changes before and after comparison. The experimental group had significantly more excellent academic achievement than the control group. The experimental group was evidently higher than the control group in the average value added score of academic achievement.
