Whether it is mother tongue learning or second language acquisition,reading plays a great role in developing and improving learners' language skills,and extracurricular reading is in terms of diversity,flexibility,initiative,and providing language input to learners.It is more important to learners.For foreign students studying in China,the current research and teaching status is as follows:focusing on the "intensive reading"study of in-class reading,and insufficient attention to the "extensive reading" study of extracurricular reading.In addition,compared with the actual situation of Chinese language education and foreign language education,the study,teaching practice and resource construction of extracurricular reading in teaching Chinese as a foreign language are also relatively lagging behind.This article takes international students in China as the research object,foreign students from Central China Normal University,Wuhan University,Beijing Language and Culture University,and Chinese teachers who have taught reading courses to foreign students as the subject of the survey.Questionnaires and interviews are used to study the media and reading of foreign students.Contents,reading motivation,reading attitudes,and the Chinese teachers 'emphasis on extracurricular reading,interest cultivation,and method guidance were investigated and analyzed.The problems and causes of foreign students' reading extracurricular Chinese reading were summarized to explore Relevant strategies are conducive to solving the problem of extracurricular Chinese reading for foreign students,and provide a reference for further cultivating extracurricular Chinese reading habits for foreign students and improving the quality of Chinese reading teaching for foreign students.The main body of this article is composed of five parts,and the specific arrangements are as follows:The first part is the introduction.This part first clarifies the reason for choosing the topic of this article,and discusses the significance of the research from two aspects of practical significance and theoretical significance.Secondly,it summarizes the literature from three aspects:foreign studies on foreign language reading,domestic elementary and middle school Chinese extracurricular reading research,and Chinese students'extracurricular reading research in China,and summarizes them from three stages:time development stage,research status and development trends.,Found five shortcomings of existing research.Finally,the research goals and research methods of this paper are clarified.The second part is an overview of reading-related theories relevant to this study.This section first explains the three reading concepts of extracurricular reading,reading ability,and the Chinese grading reading system,and then sorts out and summarizes the reading theories of reading resources,reading modes,and reading methods,and builds theoretical knowledge for the following.The third part is the results and analysis of surveys and interviews.In this part,the survey objects,survey methods,survey design,and implementation process of this article are briefly explained,and the structure of the questionnaire is summarized.Secondly,the questionnaire survey data of foreign students and reading teachers were collected and sorted out,and corresponding analysis was carried out according to the questionnaire structure.Thirdly,the interviews of individual foreign students and teachers of reading classes were sorted and arranged to form interview summaries.Finally,based on the surveys of the questionnaire method and the interview method,the problems found are summarized and summarized into three aspects:international students,teachers,and schools,which provide directions for subsequent suggestions and strategies.The fourth part is suggestions for extra-curricular reading for foreign students in China.This part aims at the current situation learned in the third part and summarizes the existing problems,and proposes relevant improvement opinions from three aspects:international students,teachers,and schools.The fifth part is the conclusion.This section summarizes the main conclusions of this article,including the two major aspects of phenomena and causes.There are two main aspects of the phenomenon:First,the reading materials of foreign students do not match their personal interests;lack of help and guidance from reading teachers;lack of access to reading materials;and second,the lack of interest and interest of Chinese teachers in studying and reading extracurricular Chinese Cultivation,habit supervision and method guidance.There are five main reasons:First,there are fewer extra-curricular Chinese reading resources for international students,and the diversity and standardization of online resources are insufficient.Second,Chinese teachers lack research,design,and teaching practices on extra-curricular Chinese reading for foreign students.Extracurricular reading was ignored in the relevant assessments of international students;the fourth is that the school lacks modern and innovative extracurricular reading hardware and software resources;the fifth is that the Chinese graduated reading system for foreign students has not yet been formed.In addition,it explores inspiring solutions from three aspects:international students,Chinese teachers,and schools,including some innovative aspects,such as actively using the current diversified offline and online reading resources,including launching online courses,creating from media account,develop Chinese learning software,etc.Finally,it points out the shortcomings of this article and the directions that can be further studied.
