With the acceleration of urbanization and the improvement of residents' income levels, residents' behavior began to gradually become more carbonized.Low-carbon cognition will potentially affect residents' energy use, daily travel, and consumption, and provide a new perspective for residents' lifestyle changes and sustainable urban development.Therefore,low-carbon cognition has become a research hotspot of relevant scholars. However, existing studies often focus on psychological factors and pay less attention to the built environment. In fact,low-carbon cognition is the product of the interaction of socio-economic attributes, attitude preferences and built environment. If we ignore the built environment,it will underestimate the role of urban planning and spatial regulation. Therefore,we constructed an analytical framework of low-carbon distributed cognition, and integrated the built environment 5D variables with local forces to investigated the cultural, local and personal impact of low-carbon cognition. The low-carbon cognition in terms of energy use, daily travel, and consumption for 1,485 households in Zhengzhou City was empirically studied. The research conclusion is as follows:(1)In terms of structural characteristics, the low-carbon cognition of Zhengzhou residents is mainly high, and there are differences in various low-carbon cognition levels. That is,the low-carbon travel and consumption cognition levels that are easily affected by the external environment are higher than the low-carbon energy use cognition, while the low-carbon energy use cognitive level, which is more affected by the internal psychological quality,is more uniform. In terms of spatial characteristics, although the spatial distribution limits of various low-carbon cognitive levels are not clear, there are still differences in spatial distribution. That is,the high-cognition level of low-carbon energy use and low-carbon travel is gathered in the three-ring area with complete infrastructure, high land mix, road network, and convenient transportation. However, the distribution boundary of higher and low-level residents of low-carbon consumption is not clear, and there are distributions in the three ring areas.(2)This research builds a low-carbon cognitive analysis framework based on the idea of human-land relationship and integrating the relevant theories of geography, sociology and psychology. On the one hand, the analysis framework comprehensively analyzes the impact mechanism of low-carbon cognition from three aspects of "personal force","regional force" and "cultural force" based on the perspective of daily behavior and built environment. On the other hand, the spatial built environment index is introduced into the distributed cognitive theory to promote the development of this theory and provide new theoretical guidance for the socialization of geography.(3)There are differences in the impact of the three forces on residents' low-carbon cognitive.Personal force and cultural force have a greater impact on residents' low-carbon energy consumption and consumption cognitive levels, and regional force significantly affects residents' low-carbon travel and consumption cognitive levels. That is,middle-aged women with high education and working-class residents have a high level of low-carbon energy use cognitive.Residents living in areas with a good cognitive environment and positive low-carbon behavioral intentions, and with high levels of low-carbon emotional recognition, have higher levels of low-carbon cognitive.Low-income residents who live in well-equipped commercial housing have a high level of low-carbon travel cognitive, but residents living in this area may have low levels of low-carbon consumption cognitive.(4)The same built environment has different effects on various low-carbon cognitive. The built environment is positive for low-carbon energy use and travel cognitive, and negatively affects low-carbon consumption cognitive. That is,residents living in areas with high land use mix, high POI density, and other infrastructure facilities and convenient roads have low-carbon energy use and high travel cognitive. However, residents' living consumption patterns are gradually becoming more carbonized, and the level of low-carbon consumption cognitive is low.(5)As far as the impact mechanism is concerned, the built environment guides and locks various low-carbon perceptions. The low-carbon energy and consumption cognitive processes follow the principle of "leading inside, guiding outside".However, the cognitive process of low-carbon travel will follow the law of "external guidance, internal strengthening".From the perspective of the impact mechanism of the built environment indicators on low-carbon cognitive.Energy use cognition presents a process from near to far.Residents in areas with complete infrastructure and high population density are more susceptible to the effect of convergence, and use energy in a green way.Everyday travel presents a process from far to near, that is,when residents choose the travel method, they will give priority to the traffic environment and then consider the peer effect.Consumption cognition is destination-oriented.In areas with complete infrastructure and high accessibility, various types of consumption will offset the positive impact.(6)Combining the analysis results, the following policy recommendations are proposed. The government should rationally plan the layout of urban spatial structure, improve the living environment, and strengthen the guidance of the built environment on the behavior of residents. The community must not only improve the infrastructure, but also increase the propaganda of low-carbon knowledge to increase residents' low-carbon participation and low-carbon identity.Make policy recommendations for different people, improve residents 'low-carbon cognitive level, and transform residents' daily life behaviors. However,it is necessary to avoid the unhealthy lifestyle caused by the excessive diversity of infrastructure and blending to guide residents. This research is based on the theory of human-land relationship theory, drawing on the content of space-behavioral interaction theory, and exploring the impact mechanism of low-carbon cognitive of Zhengzhou residents from the perspective of daily behavior and built environment. This not only comprehensively analyzes residents' low-carbon cognitive from the research theme and influencing factors, but also avoids the rebound effect of carbon emissions caused by daily life activities. It also promotes the development of distributed cognitive theory, improves its applicability in low-carbon cognitive research, and provides new theoretical guidance for the social research of geography. The results of the study provide a scientific and reasonable reference for the government to formulate policies for the daily behavior change of residents and the spatial structure adjustment measures of Zhengzhou City.
