Wandering Home And Despairing Return

This thesis takes Zechen Xu's novels as the research object to discuss the writing of home in his novels,narrative about return and its significance to the writers born in 70s.The main contents are divided into three parts:The first part expounds forms and characteristics of the writing of home in Zechen Xu's novels.His writing always around the following three dimensions.The hometown represented by flower street is becoming more and more unfamiliar.The city represented by Beijing contains both emotions of the yearning for freedom and the longing to return.The foreign land represented by Jerusalem symbolizes the exploring of home in the world.They all present the hesitation of stranger's return and the unknown end to the exploring.The second part analyzes the narrative predicament of Zechen Xu's novels.Firstly,the author was addicted into self-losing and destiny,which made his novels share a great similarity in plot and character.Secondly,when facing the complex realistic problems,there is no sharp criticism and deep reflection in the writing.The contradiction between resistance and compromise leads to the wandering of writing.Thirdly,the narrative lacks space between writer and his writing.Narrow horizon and static observation make Zechen Xu's writing is only on the surface.The novel lacks the stereo feeling and the inspiration for readers.The third part discusses how the writers born in 70s represented by Zechen Xu realize the breakthrough of creation.This thesis holds that writing standpoint should be regaining idealism.Idealism can't be equated to illusion.It is necessary to effectively express the reality faced by this generation.It is the goal to realize self-salvation.They should start from the construction of self-belief to find the spiritual belief of the "middle generation".It is a further pursuit to break through the conventions of writing.They should not only get rid of the previous writers' restraint on writing,but also break through the inherent intergenerational constraints.The conclusion of this thesis is that Zechen Xu is one of the representative writers born in 70s,so that the characteristics and problems in his novels are representative.Therefore,discussing Xu's writing is important for the writers born in 70s change beyond themselves.And it is also important for the healthy development of the entire literary.
