Neurologic Music Therapy(NMT)is a research model based on music therapy, which is a new-type therapy developed by the American scholar,Dr.Michael Thaut,in 1999 based on the modern brain imaging technology, and has become an effective approach to treating higher cognition brain function diseases internationally.Since the proposal of NMT,the therapy has gained extensive recognition and promotion in the field of music therapy among European and North American countries.Among them,Melodic Intonation Therapy(MIT),one of professional neurologic music therapies, was established by the Melodic Intonation Therapy(MIT)in the late 1970s,and applied to the research into treatment of speech and language disorders caused by cranial nerves. In the late 20th century, the therapy was put under the category of NMT,and applied to clinical therapies. In the early 21st century,NMT was introduced to China. At present, therapeutic applications of this therapy are still insufficient, which are mainly concentrated in Beijing and Wuxi, but there are still some relevant research findings. In the light of the development status and research basis of NMT in China, this paper carries out a survey of the development and application status of NMT.Apart from summarizing the history of development, and carrying out field survey, this paper observes and records the implication status of this therapy by using MIT for individual case analysis of the speech and language impairment treatment for an aphasiac of the Suzhou GLSG Special Educational Center.By comparing the physical status of the patient before and after the treatment, the practical effects of this therapy are analyzed. The author hopes that this research can promote a scientific understanding and trial of NMT in the field of China's special education.
