Research On Charity Activities Of Grassroots Christian Organizations

Since the reform and opening up,Christianity has been developed rapidly,how to do a good job in the guidance and management of grass-roots Christian organizations and play its positive role in society has become an urgent need to study the theoretical and practical problems.Charity and religion are closely related,and guiding the charitable activities of grass-roots Christian organizations to adapt to the socialist society is an important way to carry out the Party's religious policy and fully arouse the enthusiasm of religious circles and religious believers.Taking a church in G county of Shandong Province as a case study,this paper introduces the present situation of charitable activities in a church in G county from the aspects of the selection of charitable objects,the source and management of charitable funds,the content and way of charity activities,and analyzes the influence of structural factors on charitable activities of grass-roots Christian organizations by using the theory of structural functionalism.The structural factors,such as the behavior organism system with the main body structure,the personality system with the concept of charitable activities as the main body,the social system with the government supervision as the main body,and the cultural system with the learning and charitable training activities as the main body,all have an important influence on the charitable activities of grass-roots Christian organizations.This paper finds that at present,grass-roots Christian organizations are faced with the problems of single internal personnel structure,insufficient charitable ability,vague boundary between charitable activities and missionary behavior,insufficient public welfare of charitable activities,and imperfect government supervision system.The existence of these problems is not conducive to the active role of grass-roots Christian organizations in social assistance and poverty alleviation,nor to the governance of grass-roots religious organizations by the state.In order to deal with these problems,the government should broaden the United front path for grass-roots Christian organizations,encourage them to play an active role in charity and poverty alleviation,and improve the grass-roots religious governance system.First,by analyzing the influence of four subsystems of grass-roots Christian organizations on charitable activities,this paper explores the ways to perfect the charitable activities of grass-roots Christian organizations;second,by using qualitative research methods,taking a representative church in G county of agricultural county of Shandong Province as a case study,this paper analyzes and explains the charitable activities of grass-roots Christian organizations through visits to faculty members,believers and government staff responsible for ethnic religion.Moreover,supplemented by local historical records,inquiry G county local county records,historical and cultural outline,yearbook and other materials,presents the historical background and realistic situation of Christian development in G county.Because of the limited personal ability and academic accumulation and the influence of the new coronary pneumonia,the research is limited to a representative church in G county,and the sample selection is a little thin.Moreover,even the investigation of this case is still incomplete in the depth of data collection and interview,and needs to be further enriched and perfected.
