Figurative painting is in a dilemma due to the impact of the development of science and technology and various artistic movements.Standing at the intersection of history,Arikha conducted in-depth research on phenomenology and had profound insights into the problems of viewing,"things" and its beings in painting, bringing new dawn to the development of figurative painting. This article explores "things" in Arikha's essential intuition in the context of phenomenology, and analyzes its approaching to the reality of things and the ontological being of things in his view combined with the article written by himself. And summed up the typical features of its formal language-"field and fragment","continuity and instant","authenticity and restoration".In this way,Arikha puts the beings of the uncovered things in the painting to realize the clarity of things.Arikha's phenomenology-based still life painting has the following enlightenment to the figurative painting practice:the reality is rapidly changing rather than a fixed existence, which means we need to returning to the painter's "seeing" behavior and the things themselves, thus realizing the uncover of things from the horizon of painter. The painter is the channel that produces the most original connection with the world, and is a field in which intentional activities are constantly awakened and dormant. Both the thing of intent and the painter's horizon are in a state of flux, every depiction of the thing by the painter is a brand-new occurrence and being after every touch between the object of intent and the painter's perception, the painter's infinite response to the object makes the being of the thing in the horizon uncovered step by step, thus materializing the being full of vitality on the canvas.Painting is a process in which the painter constantly realize the approaching to things in such an open horizon, thus clarifying the hidden being in it.As the field recorded in the process of being, the meaning of paintings can certainly continue.
