The convening of the 20th National Congress of the CPSU and the introduction of a"secret report" triggered radical changes in the international communist movement. As a branch of the international communist movement, the British Communist Party went through the severest crisis since its establishment, during which a good number of intelletuals have left the British Communist Party, and it was in this period that the British new left was formed.A large number of intellectuals broke away from the British Communist Party, and the British New Left was formed during this period. On the one hand,Britain and France's invasion of the Suez Canal revealed the aggressivity of imperialism;on the other hand, there were a few imperfections inside Stalin Model. Therefore, the new left tried to set a third political space between the two roads from the very beginning. At the same time, the decline of the traditional left in Britain, the literary movement led by "Angry Young Men",and the formation of its theoretical platform collaboratively facilitated the development of the new left.As Dworkin pointed out,one of the main achievements of the new left is that they created a cultural research on daily life and experience, aiming at such phenomena as the rich life of the British working class, consumer capitalism and the increasing importance of mass media in daily life. The new left, therefore, has taken the steps of regarding cultural analysis and cultural politics as the core political issues. The early new left attempted to improve what are,in their point of view, deficient in Stalin Model by means of rereading classics by Marx and Engels.Beside, allowing one to partake in and withdraw from the debates freely, the new left party did not have such strict hierarchy, which distinguished itself from those traditional parties. The new left, believing in Marxism while keeping at a distance with the Western European Communist Party, was committed to opening up the political space between Stalin Model and the Parliamentary Democracy, and was also located in the "third way" between NATO and Warsaw Treaty Organization. The new left has contributed to the formation of the public space outside the party politics and got rid of the disadvantages in Stalin Model. This brought together ideas that connect politics, culture and everyday life into the same ongoing dialogue, putting individu, als rather than structures at the forefront of the discussion. These ideas ultimately influenced the development of political and social movements, the most important ones of which are the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the 68 movement and the women's liberation movement.
