A Report On The Translation Of Liaoning Folk Culture

This report is based on the translation of part of Liaoning Folk Cultu recomplied by the media and communications department of the 12th National Games,edited by Zhao Xi and written by Li Ming.This book is to mainly introduce the folk customs and culture of Liaoning Province,including all aspects of life.In the translation practice,several chapters of the book are translated.The report consists of five parts.Part 1 introduces the main situation of the translation practice,including the source text,purpose and significance of the translation and the present situation of Liaoning folk culture translation from Chinese to English.Part 2 introduces the translation process from two phases:pre-translating and translating.In the phase of preparation,features of words,sentences and passages in this book are analyzed.Translation process is the plan and schedule of translation.Part 3 defines and classifies the Source text,digging out the values of the translation and fixing difficulties on the translation of folk cultural words.Part 4 is the main part of this report.First,it introduces Susan Bassnett's Cultural Translation Theory,the theoretical guidance in the process of translation.Second,this part also explores different translation methods used in different kinds of folk cultural words with specific examples.The last part is the conclusion.After the translation practice,the author improves translation skills and knows Susan Bassnett's Cultural Translation Theory and Liaoning folk culture better.Above all,the translation is a meaningful practice.
